It's almost like starting QBs before they're ready or have even grasped the playbook is a bad idea or something. When will coaches learn guys like Herbert, Baker, etc. are the exception, not the rule?

The Pats probably wish Cam didn't force his way out of town by being a dumbass and refusing to get vaccinated (and let's be honest, that's the real reason why they cut him regardless of what Billy B says, probably because he CAN'T say the real reason). They would've sat Mac out a year if he kept his head on right.
Just playing devil's advocate here, but unfortunately, with the way rookie contracts are structured as four-year deals, do teams really have the luxury of burning a year with their QB "learning" on the sideline? Also, there's a good reason why teams like mine are picking high and selecting QBs with those picks.

Cam didn’t do himself any favors with the Covid protocol violations, but I believe part of the reasoning in the decision to release him had to do with the psychology of starting a rookie QB. Fans get restless when things aren’t on the up and up, and a rookie QB is always going to have bumps in the road. Having a former MVP on the roster could have presented problems while they are developing a rookie QB who needs to start football games to grow.

I can never root for you guys but the season is still young. As long as you guys have Russ and your WR stay healthy, you always will be in the games

Fun game last night, obviously wish the Niners got the win but they had no business being in that game after a slow start, no running game established, dumb penalties, awful secondary. They just left too much time on the clock for Rodgers

Lots of other surprises yesterday too

I thought I was in for another heartbreak. That last 2.5 minutes was a nail-biter with the Niners marching and threatening to take the lead, and sure enough it happened. I know it has been said before, but Kitttle is a frickin beast! And that prior Packers possession had me cursing under my breath with those McCarthy-like play calls off the turnover that only yielded a FG.

That was too close for comfort, but I'm glad the defense showed up with a pass rush and looks like may be starting to click in this new system, although the Niners didn't have much of a run game with their starters out. But I'll take the win in Santa Clara... FINALLY. And last year doesn't count with the Niners' depleted defense. And speaking of pass rush, here's an interesting stat from nfl.com (well, interesting to Pack fans at least ), Jimmy G was pressured on 17.9% of his drop backs weeks 1 & 2 (I'm guessing that's averaged), and 34.1% vs the Packers on drop backs.

Great game!

Makes me sick watching these defenses give up a big completion at the end of the game to lose it.

If Dallas keeps playing as well as they have the last 2 weeks. They should be a pretty big threat all season. Dak is impressive so far.

yes it was a good game, which was surprising because up until the final two minutes of the first half it was shaping up to be a blowout
Some of my fellow Niner fans were bummed but at least it was close, just left too much time on the clock for one of the best QB's, can't win em all

yes that was frustrating but over the years I have learned to just lower my expectations, that way when things work out its a pleasant little surprise
But it is a bummer when the defensive front plays well (linebackers were mediocre, not sure where Warner was all night and his PI penalty was dumb) but the defensive backs blow it through a combination of penalties and just dumb coverage, although you are going up against Rodgers and Adams.
I realize the secondary is mired in injury but even before that they just aren't as good as the rest of the defense. I know SEA and TB have also reached out to Sherman but the Niners need to beat them to it. He has lost a step or two physically but they need his brain back there, leading the other guys.

Edit - Norman was still in the hospital this morning for bruised lungs

Yeah I guess.... we will see what happens when we play each other on Sunday. But, tbh I wont be surprised if the 9ers put a beating on the Hawks.

Really... Really ... try giving up a 66 yard FG to lose 19-17 that never should have happened because your opponent was given an extra 3 seconds by the NFL refs when the play clock hit zero on the down before.

Adam Schefter
@AdamSchefter

Former All-Pro WR Josh Gordon, who is being reinstated, is planning to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs, sources tell ESPN. His agents, Eric Dounn and Matt Leist from @LAASportsEnt, confirmed Gordon is headed to Kansas City.

I felt like it was a fair matchup to start with, taking injuries into account. The Packers were on a 3rd stringer at LT, and missing Z Smith. Even with a depleted Niners secondary, if they couldn't keep Bosa from wrecking the line (as we've seen before) it likely would have gone the other way. They had a good plan and executed and also still had a pass rush without Z.

But yeah I agree, even if the Pack had lost it, I would have felt ok being that it was close and their D showed up this time. They didn't look like Madden in Rookie mode moving in slow motion like those 2 blowout losses in '19. EDIT: And I had to say it, the secondary looked tons better with Stokes despite a couple of rookie mistakes instead of King who stayed home.

Hope Norman is ok and recovers quickly. Hate to see players go down.

Congrats to the Bolts. We shot ourselves in the foot and LA took advantage of their mistakes.

I'm not going to say we need Josh Gordon, but I'll take Josh Gordon. I think the coaching staff and the locker room are strong enough to over-ride anything negative that may or may not arise.

I'm hoping he can bring to the Chiefs what Brady has been able to do with Antonio Brown.

Cowboys dominating these Eagles

Could've been even more lopsided had certain things not happen.
