for those angling to have games canceled - the proposed change in protocol looks to do the opposite of that. Less testing means less positive tests reported, means games go on, money continues to roll in
Its really naive to think this would go any other way, especially with current circumstances, this late in the season

Quote:
The NFL and the NFL Players Association continue to discuss changes to their COVID-19 protocols that could ease the burden on vaccinated individuals, according to sources familiar with the discussions.

The two sides are working to test vaccinated players less frequently and address player concerns about the number of vaccinated, asymptomatic players who are being forced to miss games because of positive tests.

The changes, which could be announced in the coming days, sources said, include an alteration to the testing procedures for vaccinated individuals. Currently, teams are required to test vaccinated individuals once per week. The discussions seem aimed at a new procedure that would remove that requirement and instead move to spot testing of vaccinated individuals -- perhaps a handful each day, chosen at random -- while also imposing more stringent symptom checks, sources said.

Basically, vaccinated people who don't show symptoms might get tested every once in a while as part of the spot-testing program, but those who do show symptoms would be checked by team doctors and tested.

Unvaccinated players would still have to be tested every day, as they have been all year. The league and union say their data shows unvaccinated individuals test positive at a rate 10 times higher than vaccinated individuals.

The league and players' union also are discussing providing home tests for players who are interested in them.

Additionally, the NFLPA has been pushing for an in-season opt-out option for players who are uncomfortable with the change in testing procedures, though it's unclear whether the league will agree to that.

The NFLPA has been under pressure in recent weeks from players who are upset because they feel they were effectively forced to get vaccinated (because of the far stricter rules that apply this year to unvaccinated individuals) and as a result of the proliferation of COVID-19 variants are now testing positive and missing games anyway. This has led to player dissatisfaction with other of the league's COVID-19 mitigation strategies, such as mask wearing and physical distancing in team facilities. The hope is that adjusting the testing procedures to make them more targeted and strategic will address some of those concerns.

The NFL and NFLPA already altered their COVID-19 protocols Thursday to make it easier for asymptomatic, vaccinated players to return to play more quickly following a positive test. They also agreed to reschedule three of this weekend's games as a result of high numbers of COVID-19 cases with the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Rams and Washington Football Team.

As part of Thursday's changes, all 32 teams were placed in the league's enhanced COVID-19 protocols, which include mandatory mask wearing for everyone, vaccinated or not, at team facilities, a prohibition on indoor, in-person meetings, and restrictions on the use of cafeterias and weight rooms at team facilities. A source familiar with the ongoing discussions said it was likely all teams would be removed from the enhanced protocols sometime in the coming week.

Redskins playing Tuesday night means they're going to be exhaustipated for the week 17 game against us. Good.

Honestly sounds like he was trying to get fired. I am sure they will settle and pay him something though

Quote:
Sources: Jacksonville Jaguars say former coach Urban Meyer fired for cause, don't intend to pay rest of contract

The Jacksonville Jaguars fired former coach Urban Meyer for cause, sources told ESPN on Saturday, with the intention of not paying him the remaining four years of his contract.

A source within the organization said the Jaguars' reasons for withholding the remaining guarantees are not tied to one specific incident -- but rather a cumulation of instances that Jacksonville's officials believe justified the firing.

It is not unusual for situations like these -- involving negated guarantees -- to later be negotiated by the two sides to avoid a prolonged legal situation. It will be up to the lawyers involved in any negotiation between the Jaguars and Meyer to try to figure out if they can resolve the situation.

A spokesperson for Jaguars owner Shad Khan told The Associated Press on Friday night that the decision to move on from Meyer was made after Jacksonville's 20-0 loss at Tennessee on Sunday. A conversation Khan and Meyer had in the locker room after that shutout -- Meyer had few answers for the team's woes or how he planned to fix them -- sealed a decision Khan had been mulling for weeks.

The only reason the final announcement of the decision was delayed was because of other planned events, the spokesperson told the AP, and had nothing to do with former Jacksonville kicker Josh Lambo's accusation in the Tampa Bay Times that Meyer kicked him during an August practice. Lambo's story came out hours before the Jaguars announced Meyer's firing.

Meyer's 11-month tenure also included controversial viral videos showing the former coach acting inappropriately with a woman at a restaurant/bar in Ohio after he stayed behind following a game against Cincinnati.

Just imagine what could've been had the Lions put up this effort all year long?

Steelers came back to make their game come down to the wire. If that call holds, that spot was awful for the Titans.

I just want to say thank you to the Arizona Cardinals. Now we’re not the only team to lose to the Lions.😁

Let’s go Ravens!

The Lions might have just screwed themselves out of a number one draft pick.

There's no QB at number 1 this year so them moving down 2-3 places might be best for them

Ravens with the best kicker this generation and they keep going for 2. Just play for OT and drill a Tucker FG.

They would've still gave Rodgers the ball back with :49 seconds left on the clock, though. Plenty of time to go down for the game-winning drive against that banged-up Ravens secondary, especially with a timeout left.
