Why did they have no choice? Thought he was under contract for 2023 already. I'm sorry, but $50 million a year for half a decade is absurd for a guy whose had one great year and two so-so years in the NFL.

There's probably at least a 50% chance this contract ends up being a complete disaster for the Eagles. Personally, I think this guy has Lamar Jackson written all over him.

Its an extension he had 1yr $4m left so its really 6yrs $259m for a $43m avg.
+ lets see the details when they come out today it might be where they have an out after 3 yrs.

I don’t disagree about your overall thoughts on his career, but no way was he playing on the last year of his rookie deal. Teams pay big money for mediocre QB play, there’s no way the Eagles were going to let this turn into a disgruntled QB.

I mean Daniel Jones got 40 freaking million a year....

I really think the league needs to start looking into capping position salaries too, because this is getting out of hand with the qb position. They are literally now nearly consuming 25% of the teams cap space per year, 1 player out of 50+ takes a 1/4 of the cap on most competitive teams now.

The strange part is when QB’s take a bit of a haircut to help the team’s cap health, some of the former players working in sports media take it so personally.

Right, and Daniel Jones is even more overpaid. I've yet to talk to anyone who actually thinks that deal won't be a total disaster.
