For decades they roasted us for being 5-3 in the Super Bowl while they were 5-0. They were also all so convinced that they would drag Mahomes and old man Kelce yesterday. Not to mention they haven't won it all since 1994 but diss us for not doing it since 1995. Pretty good day to be a Cowboys fan.

that one point did matter but as pointed out earlier, it was several things that added up to the loss. I am not seeing anywhere in fandom really hung up on this. Moody had two FG's over 50 yds (the first of which was a SB record until Butker broke it a quarter later) No one is upset with Moody. As Romo pointed out, those Chiefs ST linemen have a long reach and they got a hold of one when it counted.

this Niner SB drought longer than DAL (by one year) has become a pretty popular talking point for you guys the past week. Its pretty funny that that's all you got.
Reasonable Niner fans knew Mahomes and Reid would be an issue. Kelce turned things around in the postseason after really looking his age during the regular season.
Enjoy this though, as stated earlier this season, it's all you guys have.
Your team has had a whopping FOUR playoff wins since 2000, all of them coming in the wild card round lol

Chiefs talked a lot about the playoff OT rules all season. They said they were ready to go for the 2 point conversion if 49ers scored a touchdown first and they followed that up with one themselves. That would have been epic.....

two players have been quoted on this. Kyle and coaching staff knew and went over the analytics. this is not a story and not a reason they lost.

Because it's never too early. Opening lines for Super Bowl winner for the 2024 season. These seem reasonable, for the most part. Seemed obvious the Niners and Chiefs would start out as the two favorites, with the teams that came close (Baltimore, Buffalo, Detroit), along with Cincinnati on the next tier.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2...san-francisco/

Teams at 20-1 or better:

San Francisco 49ers +550
Kansas City Chiefs +650
Baltimore Ravens +900
Buffalo Bills +950
Detroit Lions +1200
Cincinnati Bengals +1200
Miami Dolphins +1700
Philadelphia Eagles +2000
Green Bay Packers +2000
Dallas Cowboys +2000

So many self-inflicted wounds - CMC fumble, offensive penalties in the 1Q, including back-to-back calls on Trent, not capitalizing on two KC turnovers, the blocked XP, muffed punt (which actually smart on the part of Ray-Ray to try and recover after recognizing it bounced off his teammates ankle) certainly stand out but the one that stood out to me the most was on the game ending drive in OT. I believe it was 3 and 6. Wilks initially had 5 safety cover zone, Kyle didn't like it so called timeout. When they came out of the timeout, they lined up showing a 0-cover blitz, Romo said it was likely just a show but nope - it was in fact a 0-cover blitz - which made no sense, Niners aren't a blitzing team, Armstead, Hargrave, Bosa and Young had been getting pressure early in the game but really hadn't in the second half, OT. But of course, KC converted, and it was then I knew it was all than likely over.
Honestly, I was never confident they'd pull it off, something in the back of my head just figured Mahomes and Reid would find a way. Props to the Chiefs - they're not a team I dislike just because they beat mine though I will say I am glad we can be done with Travis and Taylor until at least September.
Offensively, not enough Deebo, Aiyuk and Kittle, though its always great to see Jennings step up, Juice too, Conley was great in key moments these last two games.
Not gonna blame Kyle for abandoning the run like in years past, maybe not enough of it in 3rd and 4th quarters but that was more about the flow of the game and he did go back to it in OT, just needed a TD instead of a FG there.
I'm not even in "we'll get 'em next year" mood right now. The team is still loaded in talent but I feel the window may be closing, other NFC teams will be reloading this offseason.
But gotta acknowledge Brock - he was poised throughout, didn't turn it over, only took one sack. He is the guy for this team. Only thing I would have liked to have seen is maybe a designed run play or two in key moments in the second half but that falls on Kyle.
Definitely a tough one to process. As for the window closing, should be in good shape the next two seasons (barring any injuries and stuff like that). Brock Purdy will make $985,000 this year and $1.1 mil in ‘25, so there’s no reason to rush his contract extension. If he keeps playing like he did this year, the money will come for him in due time. I’m not expecting rentals like Randy Gregory and Chase Young to return next season. And then there’s Trent Williams, does he come back? Retire?

I hope Shanahan and Lynch address some of the issues that have been plaguing the 49ers for a while now this offseason. Need to use some picks on offensive lineman and see if they strike gold. Brock Purdy avoided quite a few sacks with his scrambling, could have been worse. The secondary is another weakness that needs some work.

Wow, a whopping one year difference. Here’s the thing though, the 49ers have made it to the SB in 4 different decades with 5 different qbs.
Dallas hasn’t sniffed an NFC championship game in 29 yrs. And that bolded hyperbole bs….. “all”, really?

You better hope that the rumors of Dakota becoming the highest paid QB in the NFL don’t come true ( 60 mil a yr was mentioned in one article lol).

The bar right now is a great regular season QB who usually wins 12+ games and craps the bed in the play-offs. Most QBs in the draft and in free agency aren't going to hit that mark, as much as I want Dak gone for always faceplanting in the post-season.

The NFC has been far more of a crapshoot for going on a decade and a half than the AFC, so it's much more wide open for a team like Dallas to slip through.

The Patriots or Chiefs have won the AFC 9 of the last 13 years, with only 5 different teams winning it in that span. In that same span, 8 different teams have won the NFC, with only one team (Niners) representing the NFC more than 2 times. That may well be the case for the next decade, given there appears to be no clear rival to Mahomes in the AFC, and the NFC currently appears to have no particular QB who you can say for certain will have his team competing for titles every season. Purdy could end up being that guy, but it's too early to know.

Purdy is a safe player, he's not going to be the guy who wins you games you shouldn't win.

The problem with Prescott is he's incredible in the regular season but seems to have performance anxiety about the play-offs. If he can't overcome it, he's probably done in Dallas. I kinda want him gone, imagine a career reset somewhere else would be good for him but finding someone of his caliber in the draft or free agency is not as easy as people think. I'm guessing fans forgot the laundry list of QBs we went through between Aikman and Romo.

on your first comment - please give your assessment of his play in this years NFCC?

on your second, all of the blame falls on the "incredible" Dak? None of it falls on McCarthy? Garrett before him? Jerry? Average run game?
Your falling out of love with one of your star players, is something long time posters in this thread have seen before.
"his caliber" L O L - yes you can get someone with similar stats in FA, develop through the draft. Not gonna give Lance a shot?
