Not over the moon with our first pick. I have a feeling McCarthy might be a Jimmy G at best. I hope I'm wrong. What were the Falcons thinking?

Probably that Michael Penix Jr is a good player and Kirko is a 35 year old with a bum Achilles. I wouldn't count on getting more than 1-2 good seasons out of him.

They signed Kirk to 4 years $100M guaranteed. Not sure what they were thinking. Then again...

Most college QBs will fail in the NFL. That's just how it is. Although sometimes they were never going to be good and other times the team destroys them.

Heres Fontenot trying to explain this to his Boss....

I like Penix but to have just committed 100 million to a guy and then pass on imo an almost sure thing receiver or defensive players at that point is just mind boggling to me. Not to mention they gave Cousin's a literal 5 minutes heads up this was going to happen before they submitted the pick.

Also why the hell do the Vikings trade up a spot with the Jets who had 0 intention of taking a QB? Some real head scratchers last night, Bo Nix was also a reach imo for the Broncos.

Lots of good receivers still on the board for tonight's 2nd round, absolute first round talent imo.

what are you thinking of the Pearsall pick? I see some fans are upset that they didn't take a OL in the first round but there are still OL to be found in later rounds.
I trust in Lynch and Shanny until they prove me otherwise. Seems like short term Pearsall will be WR3 or WR4, PR/KR, a swiss army knife for his rookie season but Aiyuk and Jennings are only signed through this season so he can move up the depth chart depending on what happens with everyone else contracts next offseason.
But after the pick was made last night a lot of insiders were saying that the Niners are listening to offers for both Aiyuk and Deebo but would be more likelier to move on from Deebo.
I love these guys and the team, I wish they could stay together but understand financially its just not going to be possible.

so this pick is indeed baffling for many reasons but on the financial end ATL can cut him in 2026 with only a $12.5m cap hit. So it could be $100m over two years ($60m yr 1, $40m yr 2) so $50m per season for (what some consider) a top tier QB is about average.
That said, Penix is about to be 24 and if the theory is ATL cuts Cousins in 2026, Penix will be a 26 yo rookie QB.

Daniel Jeremiah on NFLN said everyone knew vikes wanted jj so jets couldve told vikes they were getting offers for that pick.
If vikes didnt do that deal the jets couldve traded the pick to another team & if that team picked jj then the vikes lose him.
Vikes could figure jets were just bluffing them but do you wanna take that chance.
So it was just safer to do the deal with the jets & lock in jj.

Supposedly payton really likes nix & if they didnt take him there they felt hed be already picked by later on.

Its cause without a QB you are nothing.
Look at the last 20 super bowl winning QBs.
Almost all are either a HOFer or in the argument to be a HOFer.

Well he's a good barometer, he came pretty close and he's better than probably half the quarterbacks who won the last 20 Super Bowls. I mean Nick Foles won one and nobody thinks he should be in the HOF.

Foles is wierd cause he didnt play anywhere near entire reg season + thats why i said almost all.

They have a deal going on now for sunday ticket if you are new to it.

Also if you are a returning yttv sub they have $100 off.
So its $249 or $289w/redzone.
If youre still subd from last season you have to first go into settings & cancel it.
Then the $100 off options will pop up.

a barometer for what? the qualifier, to which you were responding, is bolded above

a quick google search shows that list as:

Super Bowl 38. Tom Brady (MVP), 3 TDs
Super Bowl 39. Tom Brady (Deion Branch), 2 TDs
Super Bowl 40. Ben Roethlisberger (Hines Ward), 0 TDs
Super Bowl 41. Peyton Manning (MVP), 1 TD
Super Bowl 42. Eli Manning (MVP), 2 TDs
Super Bowl 43: Ben Roethlisberger (Santonio Holmes), 1 TD
Super Bowl 44: Drew Brees (MVP), 2 TDs
Super Bowl 45: Aaron Rogers (MVP), 3TDs
Super Bowl 46: Eli Manning (MVP), 1 TD
Super Bowl 47: Joe Flacco (MVP), 3TDs
Super Bowl 48: Russell Wilson (Malcolm Smith), 2TDs
Super Bowl 49: Tom Brady (MVP), 4TDs
Super Bowl 50: Peyton Manning (Von Miller), 0TDs
Super Bowl 51: Tom Brady (MVP), 2TDs
Super Bowl 52: Nick Foles (MVP), 3 TDs
Super Bowl 53: Tom Brady (Julian Edelman), 0TDs
Super Bowl 54: Patrick Mahomes (MVP), 2 TDs
Super Bowl 55: Tom Brady (MVP), 3 TDs
Super Bowl 56: Matthew Stafford (Cooper Kupp), 3 TDs
Super Bowl 57: Patrick Mahomes (MVP), 3 TDs
Super Bowl 58: Patrick Mahomes (MVP), 2 TDs

Foles the only non-HOF.
Eli likely in due to two SB wins. Wilson and Flacco probably on the bubble.

Bill seems to like JJ. I'm starting to like the kid too. Especially being we didn't have to go nuts to get him.

McCarthy might be a player and I'd definitely roll the dice with him over 1-legged Kirko.
