This ESPN article about insuring players with big contracts (mostly QBs) is wild. If they get injured, you can create cap space the next year for about the cost of their contract.

Some teams like the Eagles and SF use insurance on a whole lot of their players including rookie contracts, making them contenders when their players go down (like Jimmy Garoppolo.)

Between TNF SNF MNF special games like friday/saturday/christmas theres so many standalone game now its gonna happen.
Theres only so many teams to go around & ATL was the fav to win the division.

NYJ play 3 national tv games in a row wk5 london wk6 MNF wk7 SNF.

Brissett until he gets injured as half the line is possibly out injured tonight and they literally have no depth. I will give them credit as they have performed above expectation but was afraid the 0-depth risk would come into factor sooner rather than later..

Brissett has taken a beating this year too, his numbers don't show the sacrifice he is making right now. I actually fear for his health tonight.

They have the worst roster in the NFL, they have the worst coaching staff in the NFL and last certainly not least they have the worst gm in the NFL! I dont see any other NFL team starting guys at left tackle who have never, not even in peewee league played that position! And frankly i know some will say your crazy, but with the kid no doubt imo running the show now, Johnathan Kraft might be perhaps one of the worst owners in the league.

Going to take a good while before this team is even semi-competitive again.

They had 20 years of championships and being competitive. Let them feel what Browns or Lions fans feel for once.

no I get all that but they're not necessarily a fun team to watch, have star power.

I am not predicting they will compete for the division, but I don't think they'll be god awful, probably middling, steal a few games no one thought they would - like they did with CIN, almost beat SEA, they were bound to come back to earth. Brissett has always been a serviceable backup, not a starter though so the question is when do they hand the reigns over to Maye, midseason maybe?

Mayo will be pressured by Kraft imo to put him in, the problem is the depth on this team is crap. You are not going to be successful trying to play guys at left tackle who have never done so before. Thank Wolf for that one he has been here since 2020, this is not some problem that first started last year, left tackle has been a need for literally a half decade now on this team and wolf has failed to address it properly.

Maye will at least move around as Brissett is a statue and just takes the sack. Whether Maye can last with defensive linemen getting free clear shots on him is another question. I think the Miami game will be his first start, next week they will get steamrolled by the 49ers so it doesn't make sense to let him go there, but against skyler nobody might be a good time to break the glass.
