ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Jets are hiring Lions DC Aaron Glenn as their head coach.

The connection of Glenn to the Jets has been made for months and came into focus earlier this week when the team brought him into New York for an interview with the plan of hiring him on the spot. Glenn’s ties to the franchise run deep. The Jets drafted Glenn, a former cornerback, in the first round 30 years ago and he even spent time in the organization as a scout after his playing days were over. Glenn served as a DBs coach in New Orleans and followed Dan Campbell to Detroit in 2021, accepting the position of defensive coordinator. In 2024, Glenn led the Lions to top-10 ranks in EPA per play and total points allowed despite the team being bombarded by injuries on the defensive side of the ball. He now joins a Jets team with plenty of talent on defense including Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams. The offensive side of the ball is the bigger issue, meaning Glenn’s choice of offensive coordinator will be crucial.

Are the Jags the most incompetently-run team in the NFL? They basically just wasted the last two weeks in their coaching search. No one wanted to work under Baalke.

Just a rumor and I don’t think it will happen…….but Pete Carroll as the 49ers DC? That would be ****in weird. I’d prefer Saleh to return, but I think he wants another shot as HC somewhere.

Saleh would be my first choice, I am sure he probably covets another HC gig but that Jags gig is just not attractive.
Carroll would be an odd choice but they did kick the tires to see if Belichick was interested last season too.

Besides the obvious division rival aspect, the Seahawks were so dominant against the 49ers during Carroll”s tenure in Seattle…..yeah it would definitely take some time getting used to it (for me at least). But I don’t think this will happen anyway.

WOW-I knew he was interviewing, but I didn't see that coming. Brian is a "local" KC guy, since he spent his formative years going to school in KC while his Dad coached the Chiefs.

Jags and Coen reached a verbal agreement overnight
was reading up on this and seems to be a lot of drama behind the scenes, more than Baalke getting fired.
Bucs told Coen they'd make him the highest paid OC in the league if he agreed not to take a second interview with JAX, he agreed. Word got out Baalke was gone and Coen was interested again/still. Bucs scrambled to get a hold of Coen, calling and texting him several times but unable to reach him. Coen said his kid was sick, fans and some in the media were calling BS which lead to his wife posting on social media that their son is actually ill. Coen finally called Todd Bowles back at 5p yesterday to say he wanted to take another look at the JAX offer.
Just too funny!

Happy for the Raiders and Carroll but now they gotta figure out what they're gonna do about the QB position.

With Coen and Carroll taking jobs, this is clearing the decks for Saleh to come back home!

The first act as new Jaguars head coach was to not be a man and tell your former employer that you want to explore all future possibilities. Using the kid as an excuse and far worse the wife taking to social media to only muddy the waters more, is not a good first look imo. All he needed to do was be honest and i dont think anyone would of thought lesser of him.

Imo if he last 2 seasons as Jaguars head coach i will be shocked. And i already heard Saleh back to the niners was a done deal...
