I don’t think the 49ers would have received much more for Deebo, maybe a 4th round pick at best. He’s 29, but lots of mileage on his body…especially with how the 49ers used him. Injured every year, coming to camp out of shape so to speak, it’s best to move on now. Maybe the move to Washington will spark something in him and he’ll bounce back (his best year was 2021, pretty much declining ever since). When he was on, he was fun to watch though. Wish him the best.

Eagles released CB Darius Slay.

The decision to release Slay comes just weeks after the veteran corner said he hopes to play “one more year.” Slay still hopes to play at least one more season, although it’s unlikely to be with the Eagles, who will save $4.3 million against the cap with his release. Slay will be 34 next season, but was solid on his 946 snaps. He earned a PFF coverage grade of 75.5 on the season while allowing 45 catches for 553 yards and four touchdowns. Slay will be designated as a post-June 1 release, but is now free to sign with any team.

He can earn an additional $15 mil in incentives too. Highest paid RB in NFL history, first $20 mil+ a year RB….and of course an SB ring. Not bad. Wonder if he’s still thinking about that single season record he could have set?

yup, Niners got fair market value for him. that first year as the Wide-Back was amazing but wear took its toll and once CMC came aboard he could be used in that role, letting Deebo be a traditional receiver. But conditioning and giving up on routes was an issue.
but JJ has continued to step up when called, Ricky should continue to grow this season. I love what Deebo did but the contract negotiations really irked me and a lot of fans. for his part, Deebo said he has no hard feelings with John, Kyle (who loved him) or the org and it was just time to move on. wish him luck.
some other murmurs under all of this is that the team is listening to offers for BA and may also kick the tires on Davante. first order of business is getting the Purdy contract done though, i read that they are a bit far apart from the outset.
