If I were the Cardinals GM I would not give up a good young corner in Rodgers-Cromartie plus reportedly a second or third round pick for Kolb, and I certainly wouldn't give him a big contract unless it was backloaded to the point where Kolb wouldn't be making serious money until year 3 of the deal (which Kolb's agent wouldn't agree to). If I was the Cardinals I'd rather sign Matt Hasselbeck to a 2-year deal and draft a QB next year.
I don't understand it either. Giving him a big contract before he even plays for them would be a huge mistake. He might have some potential, but not worth a former pro-bowl CB AND an early round draft pick AND a big contract. I agree on signing a veteran or even trading for a veteran QB and looking towards next years draft for their QB of the future. Next years draft could potentially have a few legitimate early first round QBs and the Cardinals aren't gonna win anything this year even if they get Kolb.

Cornerback seems like it could potentially be a position of strength for the Cardinals if Patrick Peterson pans out. I don't see why they would want to break that up plus lose another potential player in the draft in exchange for an unproven QB. Maybe they are unhappy with DRC or know something we don't. If I were the Eagles, I would be happy with just Rodgers-Cromartie. They could potentially have one of the best CB tandems in the league on an already strong team if DRC is who I think he is.

I'm curious who else is interested in Kolb. Unless another team gets involved in trade talks with the Eagles, I think the Cardinals can pay much less. I don't believe the Eagles are willing to sit on Kolb for another year because unless Vick gets injured and Kolb shows more potential, next years offer will be much less.

I recommend going to http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com right now to read about the process. The NFLPA has not said whether they will vote today, just that there is a conference call at 8:30 tonight with the player reps. In essence the union is trying to make it seem like it's very hard to re-form their union, which is completely wrong. They will vote in favor of the deal once they actually decide to vote on it.

All we missed are a bunch of fat guys running around in summer drills. We didn't miss squat from this lockout. If anything the lockout and new salary floor for teams should make free agency insane over the coming weeks.

Well here's a frivilous lawsuit. Rashard Mendenhall apparently thinks Champion cannot drop his endorsement deal despite his incredibly offensive remarks about Bin Laden and 9/11. He's claiming it's his "free speech." Maybe someone should tell this fool that free speech only allows you to SAY what you want, not be immune from the consequences/backlash over what you say. He obviously won't win this suit. He really should just drop this, try to put it behind him and try to repair his image.

Mendenhall plans to sue endorser for dropping him

Two months after Champion athletic gear dropped Rashard Mendenhall as an endorser in the wake of his comments about Osama Bin Laden’s death, the Steelers running back has decided to sue the company.

Darren Rovell of CNBC reports Mendenhall plans to sue HanesBrand, the parent company for Champion.

I’m not the legal expert here, but common sense dictates this is probably more trouble than it’s worth for Mendenhall. It’s hard to imagine he won’t lose money going after the company, and he’s only giving more attention to the brand. (And their stance, which the public agrees with. Which is why Champion made a show of dropping Mendenhall in the first place.)

Perhaps he’s just trying to keep the wallflower Steelers in the news.

Hall of Fame game officially cancelled. Free agency and opening of training camps scheduled to start July 27.

College free agency and the conditional signing of rookie draft picks are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23.

The NFL has canceled the August 7 Hall of Fame game between the Rams and Bears.
Commissioner Roger Goodell explained that there's simply not enough time to pull off the preseason opener. Players have suggested safety issues would be an issue with so few practices leading up to the game. The first preseason contests are now Jaguars at Patriots and Ravens at Eagles on Thursday, August 11.

IF they don't agree with it, I'm not so sure if the owners will want to give too much more. IF it drags on, the players will get a lot of heat w/fans.
