I just realized yesterday that Alex Smith is only 27. I just assumed he was a couple years older, but he left Utah at age 20 to enter the NFL draft. He also graduated in two years with an Economics degree. That's pretty damn impressive.

Watching him in the fourth quarter yesterday was pretty fun. We saw him evolving between our very eyes. Jim Harbaugh really is a special coach, especially with quarterbacks.

He doesn't throw the ball that much until it's "Too Late" because you saw how bad he was at reading defenses..... if a lot of those balls aren't so off-target, many would get intercepted..... The Patriots DB's were just sitting there baiting Tebow to throw!

Ugh, can we please shut up about Tim Tebow and talk some more about that other game that was played yesterday? I think that was the most sensational finish to a football game I've seen since the Boise State/Oklahoma Fiesta Bowl five years ago. If SF goes on to win the Super Bowl (still a very hard road ahead, of course) then this game will forever be etched into the annals of NFL history.

I want to know if there's ever been an NFL playoff game with four lead changes in the last four minutes before.

Moreover, although I can't recall the final minutes that led up to Terrell Owens' game-winning catch in the back of the end zone against Green Bay thirteen years ago, Vernon Davis' grab at the goalline with nine seconds on the clock seemed eerily reminiscent.

49ers flew under the radar this year....next year wont be so easy.

A bunch of great primetime friendly games which always throws a monkey wrench into a teams routine especially teams that havent done it before.

The game at the saints has sunday nite revenge bowl written all over it:

Home: Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, New York Giants, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks

Away: Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks

really starting to get about the Packer/Giant game today.

on one hand i can see our def. just crumbling.

on the other hand i can see the entire team coming together for their off. coordinator and rodgers being lights out.

I think it's going to be a very tight game. It very well could come down to the final possession again.

Well 1-1 so far. Overall: 4-2

Picks for today are the Ravens and Giants. I posted that last week but the great NFL Tebow religion purge didn't filter out real posts from the religious ones so it's gone.

No flip flopping. I went mad to choose the Giants last week so I'm stuck with them.

OOoooooh, I know what I had in mind. I had the vision of Brett Favre's pass to Greg Lewis in my head, which was against the Niners but not in the postseason.

Chad Ochocinco played one snap in the Patriots' Divisional Round win over the Broncos on Saturday.
That's eight fewer than Tiquan Underwood and 26 fewer than Julian Edelman. It's just the latest indignity in a season full of them for Ochocinco, who still hasn't grasped the subtleties of New England's complex offense. Under contract for $3 million each of the next two years, it would be a stunner if Ochocinco is actually back with the Patriots in 2012.

He scored one touchdown all year and is MAYBE the 5th option in a passing game that focuses on the two stud tight ends, Welker and Branch.

From what I know of the Patriots offense, calling Welker a TE is a bit of a reach (and wait a minute, Deion Branch isn't a TE at all...) But I'm still wondering here: Why exactly is he the fifth option? What is wrong with Ochocinco's game this year? Is it him, or is he just a bad fit in the Patriots' scheme?

Yeah I meant Aaron Hernandez, Rob Gronkowski, Wes Welker and Deion Branch. I was just too lazy to type it out. Why is he the 5th option? For the same reason Dez Bryant is the 4th option in Dallas, QB doesn't trust him to be where he needs to be when the ball comes out.

with that schedule they could still go like, 10-6 or even 12-4. the only really tough / "guaranteed" losses would be (in my book) Packers, Patriots, Giants (maybe) and one or two others.

of course, most teams have that one really loss (i.e. Packers losing to the Chiefs, Patriots losing to Bills, Saints losing to Browns last year) and the 49ers will likely not avoid that as well.

i also worry because it seems like most teams with a first year coach do really well and then fall off the map - Miami Dolphins with Sparano for example one good year and then nothing.

luckily for the 49ers, they have quite a bit of young talent and are in a still pretty weak division (unless the Cardinals change QB's, Bradford and Co. recover and the Seahawks stay strong on defense).

Oh, lol, this is why I hate it when people omit the Oxford comma; I interpreted your list as an appositive.

As a 49ers fan, I was glad to see them win yesterday. I would like to see Houston and the Giants win today.
