Well Bush isn't consistent and Young is mediocre, so I actually thought they made the right pick.

They can't afford to pay him as much as another team will. They also probably feel like they did well enough without him. Rookie Brooks Reed had 6 sacks after replacing him during the regular season and 3.5 sacks in 2 postseason games. And this is just my guess, but I think Williams would probably prefer to move back to defensive end on a 4-3 team where he has played most of his career and should get paid more.

He is going to be getting a HUGE contract.

I am SO SO happy that Buffalo and Stevie Johnson agreed on a new contract. Let me tell you, I've been sweating it for the past few weeks!!!!

I really hope you're kidding. Reggie Bush was more or less the Saints #3 running back that Super Bowl season. His best year with the Saints he rushed for 581 yards. He was a complete bust who just lucked out being on a Super Bowl team. His role in that championship season was virtually nil.

Here are Bush's numbers in the two crucial playoff games during that championship season.

NFC Title Game: 7 carries for 8 yards
Super Bowl: 5 carries for 25 yards

He still helped with receiving & returns too.

That would be like saying david tyree "only" had 8 catches all year for the giants in 2007.

That's wonderful, that doesn't make Baun any more tougher than an NBA player or MLB player playing with a broken bone. And try telling that to a baseball or basketball player that it's more difficult to play hockey. You are going off a bs myth that hockey players are tough and no other athlete is or they are just tougher. It's like that stereotype on race that announcers love to use: white players are gritty, hard nosed, tough, smart and black players are naturally gifted, athletic, quick. Hockey players aren't any tougher than any other athlete.

I disagree with most of what you said but those last lines are exactly right. You hear a TON of that stuff heading into each draft. And don't forget the phrase "he has a motor on him" that the analysts love to use for white players. Dan Patrick loves to poke fun at those labels on his radio show.

As a saints fan, he did help us win a superbowl. His stats never showed it because he wasn't a feature back but he contributed, and his game against the cardinals in the playoffs was probably his best game as a Saint. Though every saint fan was and still is split on the importance of Bush to the team.

I think the guy could physically still play at a high level. I just don't buy Moss giving 100%. The guy had a shot with 3 different teams in recent years and washed out of all three. Not sure why the Saints are bothering.

Seems very low risk to me. If he signs a deal, it will likely be filled with incentives and no guaranteed money. If he doesn't work out on or off the field then they can just cut him. I think someone is going to overpay Marques Colston and Robert Meachem will probably leave also. I think it makes sense for them to start looking at other options.

Williams' 2011 salary was too high for the Texans to franchise him. As the #1 pick in the huge rookie contract era who lived up to his contract and met most of his performance incentives it would cost $22 million to franchise tag him. That is too high for any defensive player. In addition Williams is at his best in a 4-3 defense, not the 3-4 the Texans switched to last year. The Texans also aren't in great salary cap shape so they aren't going to be able to keep Williams if it comes down to money.

A similar situation is going down in Detroit. Calvin Johnson is entering the final year of his rookie contract and has a cap number of $21 million because he reached all his performance incentives. Detroit is near the cap but can afford to pay that if they need to, but if they franchise him after this season it would cost them $25.2 million, and even with Johnson being among the best (if not the best) receivers in the league that may be too high. Detroit is trying very hard to sign Johnson to a contract extension with more manageable cap numbers.

ESPN's Adam Schefter is the latest to report that the Cowboys will aggressively pursue free agent CB Brandon Carr.
"The Dallas Cowboys are expected to have a heavy interest in Brandon Carr," Schefter said on SportsCenter. Schefter, ESPN Dallas' Calvin Watkins, and Pro Football Weekly have now all reported that the Cowboys will be in hot pursuit of Carr. Dallas is also expected to be in on free agent Cortland Finnegan, though Carr offers better size and superior tools for press coverage.

I don't know, not being in the spotlight/ having that competitiveness in your life can really cause changes in people. I wouldn't be surprised if he and T.O. both were humbled by learning what happens those NFL lights go out.

And that could be a scary thing Moss giving 100%.

But then again he could have a monster game and sink right back into his old ways and poof gone for good.

Moss is and always will be one of those guys that only tries when he feels like it. TO only wants back into the NFL so he can pay off all his debts, I doubt there's any other reason.

Which is why he'd keep his mouth shut and work hard. Just like Vick has been doing, once you know what its like on the bottom most people tend to want to stay at the top.
