Peyton Manning and Alex Smith have the same agent so their agent likely wouldn't even talk to the 49ers if they called Manning. Agents typically steer clients away from a team if it would hurt another client.

Citing a person with knowledge of the Redskins' planning, the Washington Post reports the team will go after Peyton Manning "aggressively" before turning to the Rams for the No. 2 overall pick.
Several sources assure the Post that the Redskins are "comfortable with the risks associated with signing Manning" and will "pursue him intently." NFL Network's Michael Lombardi lists the Redskins as his favorites to land Manning, though the Post concedes the Dolphins, Cardinals, and Jets may have a better shot. While the Skins have plenty of money to spend in free agency, we still believe Robert Griffin III is a better fit for the offense as well as the organization as a whole.

I think it'll come down to what Peyton wants most. If he wants to max out guaranteed money with a contract at least 3 years in length it'll be with a lesser franchise. If he wants to play for a guaranteed contender like the Jets with a very good Super Bowl shot he'd probably have to take less money guaranteed. I have to say it would be fund seeing Peyton with Miami or the Jets so we have two guaranteed Brady-Peyton matchups each season. Sounds like wherever Peyton goes one of the conditions will be that teams signs Reggie Wayne too and maybe Garcon.

Anyone else get choked up watching that press conference? You can tell Manning loves that team, fans, and city with all his heart. He doesn't want to leave.

Damn it, I'm at work. Will catch it on the highlights later. He's a true part of that city and if he had a difficult time during his presser, you can be rest assured it was genuine. He's Awesome...end of story.

I'll get choked up if they draft all lineman, bring in Manning, and then bring in Vincent Jackson, and Colston

Yeah, I want him on my team more than ever. However early reports suggest that he is leaning towards Arizona.

You wouldn't want to throw to Larry Fitzgerald and play in a mediocre division?

He certainly would have made a difference last year with the terrible start you guys had. He gets the best out of his teammates, without question. If he were to sign in Miami, it would make the AFC East a lot more fun to watch. Good Luck Mike, it's time that once proud franchise became relevant again.

I was the first or one of the first people to say he would go to AZ. I never heard no announcers even talk about them until somewhat recent. Thats where he will end up and its the absolute right place for him. Look for Dallas/AZ NFC championship game next year! Got Em!!

Arizona does sound like Kurt Warner redux. That team was pretty mediocre but with a great receiving core when Kurt Warner came back from the dead and carried them to the Super Bowl, nearly winning it. I could see something like that happening if Peyton signed with Arizona. I mean the team did go a solid 8-8 last year with Kolb and Skelton at QB.

I agree only if "Bruce Lee" works out as an ILB combo, we upgrade the DL and the OLB spots and fix the secondary. Oh and we also need to upgrade at least 2 of the 3 inside OL spots as well, then I could see us making a serious push for a deep play-off run, even with Jerry and Jason running the show.

Mu guess is the Texans. If I was Payton, having Fostor to run the ball, Johnson to catch it, A good line to block for him and a good defense would make me want to go there. They made it to the playoffs with a third string quarterback, with Payton there it would be hard not to pick them as a super bowl contendor.

Do they have the money? I mean they have a lot invested in Schaub already. Though they are letting Mario Williams walk so I guess they'll save plenty there. As a Jags fan it would be more torture being stuck in same division with BOTH Peyton and Luck.

Well, we do have Marshall, we also have the best left tackle in the league to cover Manning's blindside, and we have the best defense among the teams interested in him.
