There really should be 2-4 teams a year in rebuilding mode. Trade off your high priced talent for a lot of picks. If AP or JA had been traded Minnesota could've had like 10-12 picks in this draft and do a whole hell of a lot of restocking talent. As it stands, they will both be stuck there while the team is on life support trying to fill holes slower than they appear.

I don't understand why they got rid of Dallas Clark. Luck could potentially be looking at guys like Austin Collie and Blair White as his #1 and #2 receivers if Wayne and Garcon leave. I know Clark is injury prone, but having a nice receiving tight end is always good for a rookie quarterback, especially a rookie QB with an awful offensive line.

Oh come on. That's dumb luck an you know it. They had both Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck literally fall in their lap by sucking in exactly the right seasons. There was no brilliance on Irsay's part that landed him two likely HOF QB's, just chance.

I wasn't refering to the luck, just why he is getting rid of veterans. He's getting rid of them to rebuild, nothing regarding the QB's. Anyone who has a basic knowledge of football knows that.

I've never even been a fan of taking RB's in the first round, or even the second round in most cases. Running Backs are the most easily replaceable part in the NFL. Most of them have at most about 5 top-notch seasons in them and most are effectively done by age 30. There are very few exceptions (like Emmitt Smith) to the rule. It's more true than ever nowadays since the NFL is more passer-oriented than ever before. It always blows my mind seeing teams reach into the top-10 of the draft for a RB or give massive contracts full of guaranteed money to a RB already in his late-20's.

Just wondering here. What happens if the commissioner takes away draft picks from the Saints for the whole "pay to injure" scandal? Does the respective round just have one pick less and bypass the Saints pick? I'm thinking that's how it went with Spygate.

Colts slash Clark, Addai, Brackett, Bullitt

Colts released TE Dallas Clark, RB Joseph Addai, MLB Gary Brackett, and SS Melvin Bullitt.

Clark turns 33 before the season, can't stay healthy, and was an absolute nightmare when he did see the field in 2011, dropping passes left and right and getting exposed in lame attempts as a blocker. He may generate some interest in free agency, but very well might be done. The rest of the moves represent a full-on house cleaning by the franchise. Addai, Brackett, and Bullitt were all overpriced and do not fit into the plans of Chuck Pagano and Ryan Grigson.

Free agent Peyton Manning departed Broncos headquarters after visiting with club officials for six hours Friday evening.
Broncos brass gave Manning a tour of the facility, and he was personally escorted by VP of Football Operations John Elway. Our take -- admittedly pure speculation -- is that the Manning camp is flirting with the Broncos in an attempt to create leverage against the Cardinals and Dolphins. Denver is absolutely interested in signing him, but the fit is not nearly as ideal on Manning's end.

Rams have agreed in principle to trade the #2 pick in the draft to Washington for 3 first round picks and a second round pick. That sure was costly. I hope RG3 was worth it.

Redskins acquired the No. 2 overall pick in exchange for three first-round picks, including No. 6 overall this year, and a future second-round selection.
FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports that St. Louis and Washington will exchange first-round picks this year. The Rams will get two more future first-rounders, likely in 2013 and 2014. The Redskins are now positioned to draft Baylor QB Robert Griffin, or Stanford QB Andrew Luck if the Colts pull a fast one at No. 1. New Rams coach Jeff Fisher and GM Les Snead were intent on putting their "stamp" on the St. Louis organization with a lofty draft-pick haul in year one, and they've got it in exchange for moving down only four spots. We still love the deal for Washington. They're absolutely going to get a franchise quarterback, and will still be all systems go in free agency. The Browns are left in the dust.

Jets signed QB Mark Sanchez to three-year extension through 2016.
It's an apology extension. The Jets put out feelers for free agent Peyton Manning, and they were quickly rebuffed. On the bright side, the extension should lower Sanchez's salary cap number in 2012, giving the Jets room to operate in free agency. The downside is much worse, of course, especially if Sanchez continues his regression. At the very best, he's plateaued since entering the league. The extension will make the Jets a much less enticing landing spot for free agent quarterbacks that want a legitimate chance to start. It could even cost them Chad Henne.

The funny part is the Redskins are still trying to get Manning, guess they missed the times when he said he didn't want to be on the same team as Andrew Luck, imagine that applies to playing with Robert Griffin III as well.

Wow, that's entirely too much. That's almost as much as I was thinking the Andrew Luck pick would be worth as far as trade value goes. If Griffin is anything less than an elite NFL QB this trade could end up going down in infamy for Washington. I don't think Griffin will be a bust, but he's far from a sure thing and IMO not worth 3 first rounders and a second rounder. St. Louis got a king's ransom for that pick.

Good god... if RG3 can land a team four top-tier draft picks what would the Luck pick be worth, like 5 first-round and 3 second-round picks?
