It's okay, your team doesn't need all that cap space or those 1st round picks. I'd like to have ours though, make it easier to churn the roster during the season.

We don't need it now, but we do need 15 million next year. Just like you really don't need 10 this year, but 5 and 5 sure would help.

Team sources tell the National Football Post they "wouldn’t be surprised" if Tarvaris Jackson beat out Matt Flynn for the Seahawks' starting quarterback job.
The Seahawks offered him back up money during Flynn's first visit in Seattle(they wanted Chad Henne), I wonder what made them change their mind? The fact that Joe Philbin thought he was not a big upgrade over Matt Moore and the Browns not even considering him should have been a huge red flag.

Unless Seattle considers $7M/year with more guaranteed money than Alex Smith back up money, I don't understand.

So @incarceratedbob on Twitter says that Bears and Pats are in discussions about a Matt Forte trade. He says the Patriots have offered a 2nd and 4th round picks. I know it's just a rumor, but this guy has been right about a number of things this offseason and I know a some of you follow him.

I've been thinking this is what the Pats should do with all these picks they stockpile. Trade for some proven players while also improving with the draft. They have the picks to spare, even if it only gets them a player for a couple years and letting him walk. Seems like that would be better than using the extra picks on unproven guys.

Not that I want the Patriots to get any better, but if my team was in this situation, I would expect more trades involving picks for players and not just a pick for more picks.

I thought he was going the way of the bust in 2009 with all the fumbles and reduced yards, but he's gotten better, and better. I still worry if you've regressed once it can sure happen again

Especially with a new contract. Who knows if that is the case with Forte or not. The Bears offensive line has been pretty awful in recent years, so his stats are pretty impressive, not to mention his receiving stats. I would have to believe he would be a good fit in New England.

I dont think anyone relayed this message to the Dolphins.

I really can't imagine the Pats trading for Forte. I just can't see them giving him the contract extension he wants. Their style has been to use cheap no name or past their prime running backs and that's worked fairly well. They've also got high hopes that a healthy Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley can handle bigger roles, with Woodhead coming in on passing downs.

Is it just me or is it just plain stupid to have a press conference to introduce a BACKUP QB? I'm not putting down Tebow, I just don't get the whole PC thing by the Jets.

Forte to the Patriots would be awesome for all parties involved. I'm sick of the bears screwing with him.

"Multiple sources familiar" with Johnny Knox's (back surgery) progress tell the Chicago Tribune he'll begin 2012 on the PUP list, and there is a "strong chance" he'll miss the entire season.
Knox's agent claimed in February he was on pace to be back to full strength by July, but one source tells the Tribune there was "more structural damage than initially anticipated." Knox is expected to spend the majority of training camp rehabbing. At this point, it should be assumed Knox won't take the field during the final year of his rookie deal. He's off the fantasy radar outside of exceptionally deep dynasty leagues.

They had to move the press conference from the usual press room to inside the practice facility cause they needed more space to accomodate all the press credentials they received.

+ its on Live on NFLN @ noon.

So yea i guess it is you.

First I want to say the Tebow PC was a joke. A PC for a backup QB who's horrible? You have got to be kidding me! And Forte to the Pats would be a great move for him and the Pats because they need a good RB and Forte is that guy.

Agree with both of you, what a joke to have a PC to announce a back up QB

A big reason the jets signed him was to sell psls + hats, jerseys + ny paper backpage exposure + general tv buzz.

They do all that then dont have a press conference ?

I know some people that havent taken marketing 101 in school.

+ hes not really just a "backup qb" -- what backup qb can be involved in up to 20 plays per game.
