I'm thinking about getting a white Gronkowski jersey. Right now the Patriots website has a 20% off everything sale so it would only cost $80. It's been years since I bought a jersey, the last 2 I bought were a throwback Brady jersey in around 2005 and a white Vinatieri jersey (yes, I bought the kicker's jersey) in around 2004.

Edit: The Patriots 20% off sale isn't valid on preorders so I won't be buying a jersey at this time.

Jaguars agreed to terms with WR Lee Evans one a one-year contract.
The deal will be finalized on Monday, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. At least for a team so barren of receiver talent, we like the signing. Evans' 2011 season is hard to hold against him because he was injured the entire time, and the well-run Ravens liked what they saw on his 2010 game tape enough to surrender a fourth-round pick last August. Unless Evans' skill level evaporated all at once during his injury-plagued year in Baltimore, he should at least have a chance to contribute behind Laurent Robinson and Mike Thomas. You won't want any of them in fantasy football, of course.

Despite their lack of fantasy value, I'd say between Robinson and Evans, the Jaguars have significantly upgraded their WR corp.

I think they were too similar, not to mention the Bills haven't really had a franchise QB since Kelly. Bledsoe was already a middle of the pack QB by the time he got there and I know Bills fans like Fitzpatrick, I just think he's mediocre so far.

Patriots agreed to terms with TE Rob Gronkowski on a six-year, $54 million extension through 2019.
Gronk has not only emerged as the most dominant all-around tight end in the game, he's also off to arguably the greatest start in NFL history at the position. A closer look at the contract details (accessible at the link below) reveals a steal of a deal for the Patriots. They got him for $13.23M in the first three years, and the contract is backloaded without guarantees beyond the third season. Ultimately, only $13.17M is fully guaranteed. Still, the extension suggests the Pats have no qualms about Gronkowski's offseason ankle surgery. Wes Welker may not be thrilled with the news, but the Pats are smart to lock up their young nucleus talent. Gronk is now under New England's control through his age-30 season.

Jaguars released DE Aaron Kampman.
This move has been in the works since Kampman's December surgery, the third on his knee since 2009. Still sidelined by the balky knee, Kampman had no chance to see his scheduled $5 million salary. After landing a $10 million signing bonus in 2010, Kampman managed just four sacks over 11 games the past two seasons as a free-agent bust in Jacksonville. The 32-year-old won't attract interest on the open market until his knee proves healthy.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports that the Dolphins will work out free agent Chad Ochocinco this coming week.
Ochocinco wants to play for the Fins, and there seems to be at least some mutual interest. For a guess on what it might cost to sign Ochocinco, Lee Evans inked a one-year, $1.497 million contract with the Jaguars in April. The deal included a $250,000 signing bonus, with nearly $200,000 available through weekly in-season bonuses pending Evans is on Jags' game-by-game roster.

I really think the Gronkowski extension was good for both sides. Some people may think Gronk should have gotten more guaranteed money but he still had 2 years left on his current deal and was only due $1.23 million. He had a serious back injury in college that caused him to miss his entire junior season, and Gronk plays at full speed on every play and that could lead to a career-ending injury at any time. Now he should be set for life even if he suffers a serious injury.

For the Patriots this should help keep the Gronk-Aaron Hernandez duo together for at least 3 more years. With Gronk signed they will be able to use the franchise tag on Hernandez if they need to when he is a free agent following the 2013 season. They also have little risk with Gronk's new deal. Gronk isn't due to make huge money until 2016 when he has a $10 million option and if he is hurt or ineffective at that time then the Patriots can release him.

A side note, but a deal like Gronk's isn't possible for players drafted in 2011 or later. Gronk got a new deal after 2 seasons, and the new CBA dictates that players drafted in 2011 and later can't sign an extension or restructured deal until they've been in the league for 3 seasons.

The Cleveland Browns were never serious about Robert Griffin III, according to a report this week. As the story goes, they viewed him as "too small" and "eager to show how fast he was."

They forgot about his arm.

RG3 now resides in our nation's capital, the starting quarterback of the Washington Redskins. If his size and need for speed were ever questioned, we have solid evidence the man (and his loyal backup) can deliver the ball.

Mike Shanahan has seen this before. A mildly famous former quarterback of his, John Elway, was legendary for the pain he inflicted on his receivers' palms. Elway threw with force, and it helped Shanahan and the Denver Broncos win two Super Bowls.

Giants RT David Diehl was officially charged with two counts of DUI in a Queens criminal court Monday.
Per the criminal complaint, Diehl was spotted at 8:20PM Sunday attending to an accident involving his 2011 BMW. Diehl's car had damage on the front-right side, and officers observed "a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech and (Diehl) to be unsteady on his feet." A breathalyzer revealed Diehl's BAC content to be 0.182 -- over twice the legal limit. His next court date is July 26, which is also the first day of Giants training camp.
