They view Mallett as a quality backup. Mallett is signed through 2014 so as long as Brady stays healthy it's unlikely Mallett will be the Pats QB of the future because when Mallett is a free agent he'll want to go someplace where he could compete for a starting job.

A lot of Dolphins fans are talking about Dwayne Bowe, probably because he's from Miami. I am wondering if he's actually willing to play for the Dolphins(probably not as much as Chad Johnson though). He's playing under the franchise tag this season and if he wants out of KC, I would welcome him with arms wide open. He's a big play makers we are actually lacking and would be a nice vertical threat to complement the sure hands of slot receiver Davone Bess.

I'm surprised by two things with Buffalo's final cuts. First off, I'm surprised we're only carrying four receivers in our pass happy offense. Having said that, we use Brad Smith far more as a receiver than a QB so he counts as a fifth in theory. Secondly, Tyler Thigpen is on borrowed time. Once Jackson gets up to speed in a few weeks, he's going to be cut. There's no need to carry three QB's on our roster when we have Brad Smith as our emergency quarterback.

Tyler Thigpen's $2.5 million salary becomes guaranteed if he's on the opening day roster as he's a vested veteran with more than four years of service, so if they don't plan on keeping Thigpen for the entire season then they should cut him before opening day.

I was surprised the Patriots are only keeping four receivers. In reality the Patriots only have three receivers because although Matthew Slater is listed as a receiver he's mainly a special teams player and rarely plays offense. In addition Wes Welker and Julian Edelman are both mainly slot receivers with similar skill sets and rarely play at the same time. I'm expecting the Patriots to play a lot of three tight end sets with Hernandez lining up more at receiver than tight end. I wouldn't be surprised if they bring back Deion Branch after the first week when his salary is no longer guaranteed.

Did Demps end up making their team?

He was put on injured reserve. He injured his knee in the final preseason game but they said at the time it was a minor injury, so a lot of people are speculating that they put him on injured reserve because they wanted to retain his rights but not have him on the roster this season.

The Dolphins have received calls from multiple teams looking to trade for Moore, but it is unclear if the Dolphins are looking to trade Moore right now. Garrard, who had knee surgery three weeks ago, worked out again for the coaches Friday morning, according to a source. In Thursday’s workout, he was dropping back, rolling out and throwing on the run. While Garrard isn’t close to 100 percent yet, he still has nine days to heal and rehab.

I would wait. I'm guessing those teams don't offer better than a 5th or 6th rounder, so I would wait until a QB goes down and a team is desperate a la Raiders/Palmer, especially since the trade deadline has been pushed back by 2 weeks. I would take a 3rd round pick for Moore.

Are the Dolphins planning on keeping Pat Devlin at all? Or is he likely to just be cut/put on practice squad once Garrard is healthy?

He might actually end up as the back-up QB. He is the most improved player this preseason. It all depends on Garrard's health.

Rumors out that MJD could report to camp this weekend. We'll have to wait and see if this is true.

Yep, Albert Breer and Adam Schefter both say MJD is reporting today, with no adjustments being made to his contract. It's unknown if the Jags are going to fine MJD for the time he missed, which would total $1.6 million.

Good news for people like me who drafted him, wondering how much they'll let him tote the rock early this season though.

MJD Reports

Quote:

Maurice Jones-Drew ended his holdout and reported to Jaguars camp on Sunday.

The holdout lasted 38 days. As a result, Jones-Drew could be slapped with a $1.2 million fine from the team, according to the AP's Mark Long. With players set to start receiving their paychecks this week, Jones-Drew's holdout never figured to last past the first day or so in September. It's going to take the league's 2011 leading rusher a few weeks to get up to game speed, so Rashad Jennings figures to handle the bulk of the workload in the meantime. Still, it won't be long before he's back to 20 or so touches each game. He's back on the board as a back-end RB1 in fantasy drafts.

I think Jennings will eat into his playing time for the first several games. He's not going to be anywhere near football shape.

Yeah he should be good to go after week 3 though(hoping), going to roll with Cedric Benson for now. Find it odd Cowboys back-up CB Mike Jenkins has a "history of migraines", considering this is the first time I've heard of him having one.
