as well as doing the touch and go’s on the runway next to Tom on the motorcycle at sunset seen in the trailer….can anyone identify the patch seen overlying the right side of Vern’s chest, the day of the shoot?

two word hint regarding the above patch –

and for the sake of those actively serving Marines (and Retired) reading, scroll down to the very end of the DOD agreement ^ to the Addendum to review your fellow Marines’ welcomed contribution(s)

also, it was felt by the cast that the SMEs provided by both branches of the service were exceptional

for those new readers to this thread having not followed since last October, this was a visual aid -
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post15634694
for p.2, paragraph G, later named accordingly - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...k#post15650436

despite some good-natured teasing –

somewhat more revealing in terms of plot lines continuing on p.2, to paragraph L is why I mentioned last December and circled SAR in the pic - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...a#post15819617

since the Blue Angels are mentioned in the Production Assistance Agreement, this was another (earlier) personal appearance by Tom where he showed some of the footage from the recently released official trailer to invited guests in Pensacola -

b.t.w., also contributing to the TG:M production, there were also whirlybirds utilized during filming, only mentioned here on Blu-ray.com last December

Boy, patches certainly are a big merchandizing industry geared toward hobbyists - https://www.ebay.com/bhp/top-gun-patches . I never quite got that as even when I was a young teenager, I felt that with patches and such it was not about what you bought, but rather, life was really about what you personally accomplished, e.g. –

b.t.w., as to the history of the jacket pictured above ^ , it’s an earned original (personal blood and sweat), a tad older than the patch. Here’s a little history regarding Barbour jackets (before Gor-tex became commercial) - https://www.barbourinternational.com/us/our-history

Some of you guys may recognize this variant decades later in Skyfall - https://www.gq.com/story/james-bond-...uential-outfit

a shout out to gkolb (who has a left to right reversal avatar of the circled sticker below) and to high altitude Agent Kay – if you’re the investigating type you might want to google a phrase like Skunk Works Lockheed Martin….
