Dreamworks The Croods 3D Blu-ray (2013) [Region Free]

The Croods 3D Blu-ray

Dreamworks' The Croods in 3D will be in theaters March 22, 2013.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Croods
(the link also says Paramount Pictures will no longer distribute future Dreamworks animated films, but be handled by Fox).

The TV trailer said "The Avatar of Animated Movies" or something like that. The 3D looked strong along the lines of Rise of the Guardians in 3D and Madagascar 3 3D.

The TV trailer, much like they did with Rise of the Guardians, seems to overlook the plot almost entirely for the comical moments of the film, as was done with Rise of the Guardians, where they showed the little Elves bouncing around for most of the trailer, totally overlooking the more serious tone of the whole movie to its credit. With the Croods, they mostly just show the comical moments and cute animals, overlooking the story.

The film trailer was much better, showing how the father wanted the family to remain in the cave their whole life, but the daughter decided to explore and discovered there's a lot more out there beyond the cave.

Looks interesting. Any one else planning to check it out in 3D?

Keep seeing the trailer for this every time i go cinema, it looks pretty great in my opinion..you can tell theres a story about morals/family in there. Seems like the 3D will be strong too. Dreamworks have done quite a few films which i've loved in recent years.

Yes, they are improving and the 3D rocks as of late, really taking off with Madagascar 3's 3D compared to the previous and nicely done 3D, though not as strong, in Puss n Boots.

I'll also probably check this out next week in theaters.

Saw this today for advance screening. It's actually a very good 3D movie. The movie itself is very funny and family friendly. I highly recommend this to everyone.

Glad to hear that about the movie. We were thinking the storyline might not be so great with this one. The previews look awesome visually, but I like a good storyline too.

I'm disappointed this couldn't be released after the usual three month period but, hey, at least there's finally a definitive release date.

Yeah...I dont know why we are getting this so late. I mean, were getting Iron Man 3 (August 27th), The Great Gatsby(August 27th), and Star Trek: Into Darkness (September) before we are getting The Croods and Croods came out almost 2 months before.

Oh well...no biggie. Just odd.

October. That is later than expected. They might be targeting this as a Halloween type movie with all of the monsters they faced off against, but that's a stretch. Then again, they marketed Rise of the Guardians 3D as an Easter Movie "Perfect for Easter" thanks to the Easter Rabbit scene in that movie.

Also:
GI Joe Retaliation 3D July 30. 24.99 on amazon.com. Hopefully the Croods hits that price also.

Checked my Nordic release 3D blu-ray: No trailers. Just a 7 second "20th Century Fox Home Entertainment" logo in 3D.

What is your obsession with trailers before the menu? You've asked this same question on a few other 3D titles. Just curious.

I'll have to watch it again in 3D soon. I like the story better than Madagascar 3 3D, and the 3D is not too far behind either. I wonder where they would take the sequel. Hopefully keeping things in the past.

Word is the sequel is back in the works for 2020.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Croods#Sequel

" in September 2017, DreamWorks and Universal revealed that the movie was back in production with a release date scheduled for September 18, 2020. It was also confirmed that the original actors would reprise their roles."

The 3D is great in this title. Layers add depth and movement to the animation. The way the camera pans to take advantage of the 3D space is amazing. The perspective is always changing or in motion. The particle effects have separation and do not cause doubles. Pop outs work but aren't distracting, and panoramic bay's open up.

Nice story.
