Dreamworks The Croods 3D Blu-ray (2013) [Region Free]

The Croods 3D Blu-ray

Dreamworks' The Croods in 3D will be in theaters March 22, 2013.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Croods
(the link also says Paramount Pictures will no longer distribute future Dreamworks animated films, but be handled by Fox).

The TV trailer said "The Avatar of Animated Movies" or something like that. The 3D looked strong along the lines of Rise of the Guardians in 3D and Madagascar 3 3D.

The TV trailer, much like they did with Rise of the Guardians, seems to overlook the plot almost entirely for the comical moments of the film, as was done with Rise of the Guardians, where they showed the little Elves bouncing around for most of the trailer, totally overlooking the more serious tone of the whole movie to its credit. With the Croods, they mostly just show the comical moments and cute animals, overlooking the story.

The film trailer was much better, showing how the father wanted the family to remain in the cave their whole life, but the daughter decided to explore and discovered there's a lot more out there beyond the cave.

Looks interesting. Any one else planning to check it out in 3D?

Keep seeing the trailer for this every time i go cinema, it looks pretty great in my opinion..you can tell theres a story about morals/family in there. Seems like the 3D will be strong too. Dreamworks have done quite a few films which i've loved in recent years.

Yes, they are improving and the 3D rocks as of late, really taking off with Madagascar 3's 3D compared to the previous and nicely done 3D, though not as strong, in Puss n Boots.

I'll also probably check this out next week in theaters.

Saw this today for advance screening. It's actually a very good 3D movie. The movie itself is very funny and family friendly. I highly recommend this to everyone.

Glad to hear that about the movie. We were thinking the storyline might not be so great with this one. The previews look awesome visually, but I like a good storyline too.

Yeah the trailer was awesome, it looks like Dream Works has knock another one out the park. I would love if they would reslease Over the Hegde in 3d, that would look awesome with the way they do 3d movies.

definitely looks awesome and colorful. Only gripe is they chose scope format over full screen which I enjoyed a lot in Madagascar3 and Rise of Guardians

I agree. I enjoy the full screen much better. A much more fulfilling 3d experience. I really don't understand why all 3d movies are done this way?

Scope does a nice job presenting large, sweeping outdoor vistas, and from the trailer, it looks like there are a lot those in The Croods.

Since there is an IMAX 3-D version listed as 1.44:1 @ IMDb and the theatrical as 2.35:1, maybe there is the possibility of open matte 1.78:1 for home display optimization?

Thumbs up

The Croods' 3D was very strong, much like from Madagacar 3 3D, and Rise of the Guardians. 3 in a row.

Fun movie about survival in a dangerous world where you're always on the menu from the many monsters that inhabit the ever changing terrain. In a Looney Tunes Bug's Bunny way, this is a pretty violent cartoon from the constant battle to survive the hungry animals, to the slap stick humor where a rock plate slams into the character's faces to "snap a picture" imprint of them. Great stuff.

Awesome 3D with plenty of pop outs, good, simple storyline and Nicolas Cage delivers a good acting performance as the Father, Grug.

On my list for must buy 3D.

Saw this movie tonight and my eyes were thanking me for the special treat. My God, loved the 3D. Dreamworks know how to take the audience for a ride and what a ride it was. Was well worth the 90 minutes of my life and I might spend another 90 minutes to repeat it.

Agreed. A+ for the 3D in the Croods.

The story reminds me of the classic show Land of the Lost, where the father tries to protect the family by keeping them in the cave, but they rarely stay there for long, and choose adventure over bland survival. Fun movie.

For those who don't have the Rise Of THe Guardians blu-ray or simply haven't seen the trailer yet :

I like how Dreamworks is continuing to upload 3D trailers on their official channel. All studios should take note and follow suit IMO.

I watched Guardians 3D Blu last week, and the trailer did indeed play in 3D before going to the menu. Looks awesome!

The preview in 3D on the Rise of the Guardians blu ray 3D disc is a good example of what's seen in the full movie, but there are 2 memorable monsters that don't appear in the trailer, and plenty of adventure scenes not shown, which really showcase the 3D. Many pop outs also.

Daughter and I saw the Croods in Real 3D today. We both really liked it. I honestly believe that Dreamworks has risen to Pixar's level in the last several years.
