I agree. I may even go as far as say that in some examples, Dreamworks outdid Pixar, imo. Madagascar 3, Rise Of The Gurdaians are two examples that immediately come to mind. Not just the 3D...the movie itself as well.

That's cool. It's nice they're expanding past Shrek and Madagascar sequels. Antz is still a favorite, way back when they were PDI (Pacific Data Images) in 1998. I wish that one was converted to 3D, but those are old assets, so not sure they can pull them together.

For those who had a chance to see The Croods, what did you think of the "Looney Tunes-like violence"? I thought it was a welcome change of pace for the style of the movie, being very over the top and surprising most of the audience.

Is this actually coming out on 3D Blu-Ray though? because strangely enough its not listed (like other films have been) on Amazon's site to preorder in the future (for example).

We have about 4 months til the blu release, so I'm not too worried about it.

It will. I have read on several sites that Madagascar 3 and Rise of the Guardians sold better than expected on BD 3D so The Croods will undoubtedly be available as well.

The 2D version is not up for pre-order as well. That doesn't mean it's not gonna come out on Blu. It's still in theatres.

At least there's a preorder on amazon.de website!

http://www.amazon.de/Die-Croods-Blu-...5007638&sr=8-1

I'm sure that 12/31 release date is very accurate and won't be changed because lots of movies come out at that time of the year. "Die Croods". Sorry, just had a flashback to Sideshow Bob episode on the Simpsons...

Cool. I'll guess this will be on blu ray 3D by July 2013. Great demo 3D disc for 3DTVs.

Cool. The cover looks interesting with all of the characters packed together, much like they comically were when they protected one another in the cave in the beginning, from the wild animals outside.

I must buy this at any cost. This was the most fun I ever had with my family in theaters. We laughed a lot, thrilled with the kinetic action (Looney Tunes style that is rare to see now), and as a father I really feel connected to Grug. And the animation was so breathtakingly beautiful & 3D was the best I've seen so far.

Right on the money. Cool movie, didn't hold back the heavy slapstick, and awesome 3D.

Fun movie about survival in a dangerous world where you're always on the menu from the many monsters that inhabit the ever changing terrain. In a Looney Tunes Bug's Bunny way, this is a pretty violent cartoon from the constant battle to survive the hungry animals, to the slap stick humor where a rock plate slams into the character's faces to "snap a picture" imprint of them. Great stuff.

Awesome 3D with plenty of pop outs, good, simple storyline and Nicolas Cage delivers a good acting performance as the Father, Grug.

On my list for must buy 3D.
The week of June 10th was "Captain 3D" ’s (http://www.definitionmagazine.com/jo...for-advan.html ) last week at Dreamworks Animation…after six years, twelve movies, and 25 projects later. For those unfamiliar with the stereographer extraordinaire, his resume consists of:

Monsters vs Aliens
How to Train Your Dragon
Shrek Forever After
Shrek 1, 2 and 3 conversions
Megamind
Kung Fu Panda 2
Puss in Boots
Madagascar 3
The Croods
Turbo

Of the above ^, he says that he is possibly most happy with The Croods for a full volume, solid, consistent, 3D space that shows how strong 3D can also be comfortable and fun for the story.
