Megadisc store has orange and green cases. They have an Amazon store as well

Soooo... no comment on the new format 3-disc Elites that can be converted to thin 4-disc cases?

i do hate how flimsy eco cases feel and know i'd prefer elite cases. and i'd enjoy swapping them out....my wife would just @ me.

I heard about these in another thread, I don't have a pic to link to offhand, though.

Essentially there is another kind of 3-disc Elite case now.

The ones that most of us are familiar with have a single disc hub on the case itself (in the same place as a single-disc case), but then has a hinged 'flap' that holds 2 discs (1 on each side of the flap).

There is a new kind of 3-disc Elite case that has 2 disc hubs inside of the actual case (similar to a 2-disc Elite case), but with a hinged 'flap' that has a single disc hub on it. I'm not sure if there is a way to buy these cases by themselves. In the other thread that I heard about these in, some people were buying some movie triple packs from Wal-Mart that use these.

As a result of this, what you can do is swap the 'flaps' from these two different kind of 3 disc cases, making a 4 disc case that is the same size as average 1-3 disc sized Elite cases, and also a 2 disc with one disc held on the hinged 'flap' similar to how most 2-disc DVD releases were made.

I would love to find a case retailer that sells both kinds and let's you pick which to get, as I would buy several of each to use them as needed for any 2 to 4 disc case needs.

One thing I've noticed is that even the newer "non-eco" cases are flimsier than the older ones. They are still a lot better than the actual eco cases, but the newer 3 disc elite cases, for example, aren't quite as sturdy as the older ones. I've compared them and there is a noticeable difference, though I can live with it.

Yeah I have one and I love it. I need them along with the 4 disc stacker (avengers 3d) but they're hard to find

I have the three disc version of Kick-Ass (BD+DVD+DC Combo) from BestBuy, and it has exactly the same case that you are talking about: One disc hub on the left side, one on the swing tray, the last on the right.

Anyone order any multi-disc cases from Meritline recently?

I believe these are similar to cases I have now that I once ordered from genesysdtp. Mine have the bluray logo on outside of the case as engraved look like this but no foil/silver in the logo. But the insides look almost exactly the same. genesysdtp double cases are listed as: 12mm Virgin Polypropylene

But Meritline are listed as: Polystyrene which is the more rigid hard plastic. Who makes the Meritline cases and are they truly shipping Polystyrene ones as the picture on their site looks more like the more flexible and plastic like Polypropylene ones? Is the meritline case a silver foil like bluray logo or just engraved and clear?

I emailed genesysdtp owner and asked the brand of his cases he sells, but all he could say was that the brand was "Premium". Never heard of a brand just called Premium. I do like these cases though and would like to order more, but the genesysdtp prices are much high then meritline prices for the 100 count I am looking for.

After buying some used Blu-rays from Blockbuster, I was in search of cases. I ran over to Best Buy and got the Dynex 10 pack of double cases for $13.99. The interesting part about all of this is the guy who rang me up at Blockbuster told me that they throw away perfectly good Blu-ray cases every week because they have to use their special secure cases. He told me if I ever wanted to get some that I needed to call or check in on Fridays because that is when they get thrown away. Free cases sound like a good idea to me.

That's sounds great if they can hook you up with some freebies but I wonder why they don't just sell the empty cases in 5-10 packs for a couple of bucks if they have to buy new cases?

Can I ask what's different with the special cases? Nearly all our cases in the UK are Red Tag. Which I find to be slightly inferior to cases without the Red Tag slot. ARe the BB ones similar?

Yes! This is exactly what I need. Whenever I upgrade from a DVD to Blu-Ray I usually keep the dvd's and make a custom combo-pack. As a result, I now need several 12mm 4 Disc cases, but the smallest I've found online is 15mm, which is too wide for the blu-ray's cover paper.

Blockbuster has their own cases so they have a locking mechanism on the case. It is DVD sized case and when they put used movies out for sale they use the same cases. You can see the slot at the bottom of the case in this picture. They have a yellow plastic piece that slides up the full length of the case to lock it shut. This being said, selling those Blu-ray cases would be great. Why not? They are just throwing them all away.

I wish there was a Blockbuster by me as all have since closed near me.

Anyone order lately from meritline or supermediastore? I was looking for the double cases that store BD on both sides of case and made of the more flexible plastic like Polypropylene. Its odd that meritline lists their double case as Polystyrene yet all the others are listed as Polypropylene. So wondering if that is just a mistake on their site.

I hate the rigid and harder Polystyrene cases as in the past they seem to break easier if dropped and especially during shipping. I think almost all retail cases are made of the pliable Polypropylene.

Not sure to order from Meritline because of that as I only need double version, but there prices are so far the best. I know these are the generic cases and other prefer to pay premium for stuff like Viva, but the generic are just fine for my needs.

About a year ago when I was working at Office Max (an office supply store,) we had to scrap the empty DVD cases for the tax software. I asked one of the managers if I could snag a box of the empty cases, and he was cool with it... After that, he decided to group em in packs of five for a dollar each. They made a sku for the item, taped em together, and threw em in a dump bin. It's entirely possible, and while the DVD cases didn't quite draw a big crowd, I think Blu Ray cases would definitely help push a few extra sales.

Thanks for the information, it's always interesting to find out how things work in other parts of the World. It sounds like our Red Tag system but slightly more elaborate. The Red Tags are unlocked by two magnets at the checkout, it always makes my wince if I know there's a booklet inside the case. Good luck with your freebies.

Over in the UK I haven't seen any BD cases in stores. I used to buy DVD cases with blank DVD-R's in as the cases were high-quality (and came with blank media), so the chance to pick up a few blank BD cases without shopping on-line would be pretty appealing!

Is it me or are the new cases that are shipping out feeling slightly flimsier?

I ordered some single disc elites from disc makers and it seems like the case is lighter even though it isn't an eco.
