I was just looking at the picture on eBay again and the left side of the case is flat on the surface and also looking non-translucent (that should make clear what I mean ). You can only see that it's translucent on the right side (black translucent usually is very dark brown, my Amaray black translucent cases look exactly like this) or else it's some weird reflection making it look like it's translucent.

It looks like it's just the lighting that's making it look translucent.

Yeah, now that I've heard they're non-translucent I think it has to be. But it really looks like it's translucent doesn't it?

Viva does make them as that's what was used for the LOTR: EE boxset. However, seeing that the 1 & 2 disc black cases are near impossible to find, other than the one SK eBay seller, you're probably right in that it would be impossible to find a replacement 5-disc black Viva Elite case.

That was a single production run. It doesn't mean they're producing them all the time. And the same goes for the single and 2-disc cases. They're doing a single production run when a studio releases a title in black case and the leftovers sometimes make it to the market. It's how I got all my different color cases.

am I going blind or have blu-ray cases gone WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY up in the last year or so. I just checked my account history and I've bought 100 packs for single and double discs from sleevetown, meritline etc for $25-$30 per 100.... now we're looking at about $50 for 100 cases!!!!!!!!!!!!!, usually prices go DOWN on cases not UP. look at dvd cases where I can get 100 cases for like $20 MAX!!!! and they have more plastic

Supply & demand. Obviously the demand for dvd cases is at an all-time low, whereas BD cases are way in demand, as it's the new "collectible format".
At least that's what I would think. That plus inflation.

That may be true but the manufacturers do make, or have an option to make, the cases in other colors. They might not be readily available for sale but that is completely different then not making them.

maybe, but I remember in the HEIGHT of dvd I could get 100 packs of cases for $20 or less. at times $12. it just seems that blu-ray cases have STAYED at ridiculous prices for far too long and with less plastic

Sorry if this has been asked, but I'm new to this thread. Are the Viva Elite cases from Disc Makers identical to the ones used by the studios? Does anyone, who has bought them, have better pictures than the ones on their site? Thanks for any help!

Yes, they're the exact same Viva Elite cases used by the studios.

Where is the best place to get some cases from? I would like to get around 50 cases but I don't want to spend over $20 shipped. I'm guessing I'm probably out of luck lol Any sites often have discounts/shipping promos? I can wait it out a few more weeks, but I'd like to get them soon. I mean, paying $25 isn't bad... I just don't want to spend like $40 or $50 or something.

$26.50 for 50 single cases, not including tax. I think that's a pretty good deal.

That is good. $19.50 before shipping. That would be even better. Does Disc Makers ever do a free shipping code? I've only purchased from them once, so I don't really know.

Every once in a blue moon they do. I haven't seen one in a long time. I think also sometimes the offer free shipping if you order over $50 worth of stuff.

Ok, sorry that I have been offline a few days, been busy with prepping my next film. You can slightly see through the case, but, not enough to see the inside image on a printed cover. I've stuck the cover of The Raid: Redemption inside and pulled it out slightly. You can't see it at all. I'm planning on buying more of these cases for some custom double features so I can put some of these cases in my storage room.

I've been shopping with them for years and have never seen a free shipping offer that includes cases. On occasion they offer free shipping but it's only good for a specific item such as customized USB sticks or duplication/replication services an/or machines.
