I apologize if this has been asked before. Will the linked 4-disc case fit the Godfather Collection correctly (i.e. insert fits fine, case fits in the slipcase)? I just bought the set brand new, and the disc holders on the inside have literally nothing to attach to. None of the discs were damaged, but I'd like to prevent future damage with a replacement case.

Thanks so much!

The ones you can buy have a more square spine than the orig Godfather one, but it will still fit the insert.

i am thinking of moving some of my sets that came in alternate packaging into cases and use some custom cover art. that said, after looking at everything, if i am looking for three disc cases am i stuck with the vortex brand? from what i can tell, they are much thicker than a standard case. if so, do a lot of the artists who do custom work make the cover art sized for these cases? i have a few discs that came in viva elite three disc cases and they appear to be "standard" size. is there a resource anywhere for these? lastly, with regards to custom cover art, am i better going with 2 "larger" 3 disc cases or 3 "standard" 2 disc cases? that is, which way do most of the artists do their work when there is a set that has typically needed that many cases in order to be moved?

i know it is a ton of questions, but i am looking to make some case orders and i want to try to take care of it all in one shot.

thanks

Edited cross-post to the thread Plastic Blu-ray Disc Cases: What Sizes Are They & Who Makes Them? in response to BrianAg95 for his query regarding another possible source for multi-disc Vortex cases:

Genesys DTP:
http://www.genesysdtp.com/index.htm?dvdcase.htm

All of these are generic cases that apparently use an "embossed", sunken Blu-ray Disc Logo that is molded directly into the case, with NO silver coloring added. This is the type of logo used on the slim single- and double-disc 6mm Viva Elites. In the past, Genesys DTP has sold 12.5mm single- and double-disc generic cases that had a pad-printed Blu-ray Disc Logo.

Slim Single-Disc 6mm Case:
http://www.genesysdtp.com/index.htm?...limdetails.htm

This is a generic slim Viva Elite-type single-disc case. Genuine 6mm Elites do NOT have booklet clips. Other sources have been identified that sell generic slim cases, but while also having booklet clips, they are noted to be 7mm thick, rather than 6mm.

Single- and Double-Disc 12mm Case:
http://www.genesysdtp.com/index.htm?...asedetails.htm;
http://www.genesysdtp.com/index.htm?...bledetails.htm

These are generic Viva Elite-type cases. As noted, genuine Viva Elites are 12.5mm thick, so the specification of a 12mm thickness is most likely a rounding error.

Multi-Disc 22mm Case (3 to 6 discs):
http://www.genesysdtp.com/index.htm?...se3details.htm;
http://www.genesysdtp.com/index.htm?...se4details.htm;
http://www.genesysdtp.com/index.htm?...se5details.htm;
http://www.genesysdtp.com/index.htm?...se6details.htm

These cases are a generic version of the 21.8mm MeadWestvaco/AGI Polymatrix Vortex case, so the specification of a 22mm thickness is probably just a rounding error. All variants appear to use the same basic case, with two sets of snap hinges molded to the inside of the case and disc hubs on the booklet- and disc tray-side of the case. The only difference appears to be the inclusion of single- or double-sided swing trays. Thus:
3-disc case: One single-sided swing tray;
4-disc case: One double-sided swing tray;
5-disc case: One double- & one single-sided swing tray;
6-disc case: Two double-sided swing trays
Obviously, Genesys DTP should consider selling single- and double-sided swing trays separately. From the photos, I am unable to determine if the swing trays are made of polystyrene, just like genuine Vortex trays, or if they're polypropylene instead.

Thank you so much primitiveskin! That's amazing because I've been looking everywhere for the slims. Have you or anybody else ordered from these guys? Are they trustworthy?

Thanks, but I can only claim credit for the analysis. Credit for the discovery should go to BrianAg95. During the brief lull when Disc Makers wasn't selling 12.5mm single-disc Viva Elites, I did purchase some 12.5mm generic singles from Genesys DTP, so I've got no complaints about them.

The multi-cases that Primitiveskin lists are the same type sold by the Vernon Library guys (see first post in this thread for info).

It appears that Tape.com is carrying the same lineup of generic cases as Genesys DTP: http://www.tape.com/products/blu-ray-case.html

However, from the product photos, there might be a difference in the mix of swing trays included in the 4-disc cases:
Genesys DTP: x1 double-sided swing tray
Tape.com: x2 single-sided swing trays

In the meantime, Vernon Library Supplies appears to have restocked with genuine 6-disc Vortex cases, but these, along with the 5-disc Vortexes (Vortices?), seem to be a popular item that can sell out quickly.

Default double disc Viva Elites?

I'm still looking for a source to buy double disc non-eco Viva Elite BD cases....I can get single disc non-eco Viva Elites all day long from Discmakers (and just did get 50 more), but they don't carry them in the double disc variety, and I only see other places selling Vortex (or generics) for double disc cases....

Has anyone found any site that sells genuine Viva Elite non-eco double disc cases? I'm not that concerned about cost, I just need to replace these awful double disc eco cases that Fox (and now Lionsgate) stubbornly use....

Anyone know the cheapest source within the U.S. for purchasing the Sony/Disney style cases with latch? I just do not like the WB ones with the rounded edges (I believe they are referred to as Elites).

The entry in the OP for Meritline (http://www.meritline.com/blu-ray-dvd-case---c-7615.aspx) needs to be updated as it appears that they are now carrying the same lineup of generic cases, including 3- to 6-disc variants, that have previously been mentioned as being newly available from Genesys DTP (http://www.genesysdtp.com/index.htm?dvdcase.htm) and Tape.com (http://www.tape.com/products/blu-ray-case.html). However, please be aware that Meritline doesn't really allow for much flexibility with their minimum order quantities.

Updated info on the generic, Vortex-style multi-disc cases newly available from Genesys DTP, Tape.com, and Meritline:

The "embossed" Blu-ray Disc Logo is molded directly onto the branding bar of the case, but is NOT sunken like on the 6mm slim Viva Elites. Rather, the logo is raised with no silver coloring applied.

The swing trays are made of polypropylene like the case itself, unlike Vortex cases which use trays made of polystyrene. Oddly, two different disc hubs are used on the generic double-sided swing trays. One is a button-release hub, while the other uses teeth like those on a typical CD jewel case. On the other hand, Vortex double-sided trays use friction-release hubs, which require the application of gentle force to snap a disc on or off of the hub. A nice feature shared by both the Vortex and generic trays are the tabs on them that allow the trays to lock in place so that they don't move while in transit. The swing trays should be interchangeable between genuine Vortex and generic cases.

Did not work for me, which may either be because it is expired, or because I am ordering International.
