I hadn't purchased from Casetopia in a long while due to their spotty service, but when I put a reasonable pack of cases in my cart just now, the shipping charge just about made me choke as it almost doubled the total price. They're definitely skimming some profit off the charges for sure so their initial prices seem low, because this would have been a fairly light box to send out.

I was wondering why you thought Casetopia was so much cheaper since I've had the opposite experience, but it makes sense now since you hadn't seen the shipping costs. I just ordered 10 of 10 disk cases from Megadiskstore for $54 shipped (w/free shipping), while at Casetopia the same order goes for $66 shipped ($18 shipping charge). Plus, I usually get the order in around a week.

I put in just about the same number of Blu and 4k cases from Casetopia as Mega just for giggles and it was $25 more shipped via Mega.

I guess it depends on what you are ordering.

One thing that bugs me from Mega (and there are things that bug me about Casetopia) is that they have the same case listed with or without "free shipping" and they are most definitely tacking shipping charges onto the price of the "free shipping" items. It's obvious, so don't call it free shipping when it's not.

I think the difference may be that I am ordering from their eBay store not their personal website and I am always ordering pre-established bundles (e.g., 5 of these or 10 of these) not mix matched amounts. As such, I've always gotten free shipping.

I had a similar result when I compared the prices for my latest order -- the cost from Mega would have been higher, even after factoring in the shipping at Casetopia. There's also an economy of scale on shipping costs which helps for larger orders.

I always order in lots of 5 or 10. As you say the value is in the larger lots, so I will typically go for 10 unless I know I will never use the others up eventually. My purchases of cases are related to either replacing inferior packaged complete series sets or for my own home-grown sets of captured sports games.

Well Casetopia has been out of stock of black blu ray cases for months now and it doesn't seem like they will be back in stock. Has anyone bought some from them (in this case the website just wasn't updated and they actually do have black cases) or is there anywhere else to buy black cases in bulk?

Casetopia results are much better when they sell through eBay than through their own site. Usually no response through their site. And you are right Goodwoodeshop is a bit expensive. I sometimes find what I am looking for on eBay with individuals selling their empty cases.

I recently ordered 80 double disc BD cases from megadiscstorecom on eBay. One was cracked (I assume from the shipper since it was on the outer corner of the cases). I liked the cases, so I told them one was cracked and that I was going to order the 100 pack of single disc BD cases. They said they would throw a double disc case in with my order. They did. The 100 pack arrived with no issues. It came out to 80 cents per case for the double disc cases and 76 cents for the single cases (VIVA Elite, non-ECO).

My eBay experience with them was great. I think it took about 6 calendar days per order from Canada.

Yeah, I order almost exclusively from them though either eBay or their website and haven’t had any issues. I just wish they had the Scanavo cases Criterion uses.

So, if I wanted just one case with an orange-ish tint to it, is there any title I might find at the thrift store that I could salvage it from? I have an anime movie I’d like to swap out.

Thanks

194 Empty blu-ray cases for .jpg

New to the thread. Just showed up to tell about what happened to me today. I was at a local thrift shop checking for something they didn't have and happened to come across 1000 empty blu-ray cases all boxed up ready to sell. I picked up 194 empties today. They are all previously used. All are blue in color. All different brands. Some are single hub, some are double hub, but none have flip trays. I'll probably start by pulling out the double hubs and crosscheck my double dipped movies with older DVD's duplicates to see if I can consolidate some of those. Then check the collection for broken hubs. Of course I'll save a bunch for later, but most likely I'll be sending most of these back to the thrift shop when I am done. Shipping would probably kill any deal if you were thinking I could send you some. It's a 50 mile round trip for me, but I will be in that area again on Thursday. If anyone really wants a 40 pound box shipped to them, you have until the morning of 4/8/2021 to send me a PM. Quantity min. of 100. Otherwise just forget I mentioned it. It's just a thrift store thing, helping out a friend or two here, and mainly trying to keep them out of the landfill.

Update. Went back and bought another 1000 empty cases. I have been sorting out the contents and found the contents to include approximately...

Amaray - no holes
15% Single hub
7% Double hub

Viva - no holes
15% Single hub
12% Double hub

Eco cases with holes
25% single hub
25% double hub

Remaining
1% 3D/stackers/flippers/slims

So that leaves me with approximately 600 solid cases to work with. My collection has 1200 blu-ray SKU's. I will be pulling each and every item off the shelf and inspecting the case. Consolidating where I can. Recycling damaged cases. Replacing anything with eco holes with a solid case. Keeping a list to keep track of cases that could use an upgrade, but I do not currently own. The list will be for a future order. For instance maybe I will find a 10 disc case with a broken hub. Maybe I find instances where I could consolidate 2 cases into one single case, like blu-ray special bonus discs left over after a 4K upgrade, if I order a replacement case with 5 hubs or whatever. When finished with this project, I should have over 1000 eco-box style cases left over. Used condition of course. Probably going to Ebay with them, as I don't think the collectors here are interested. Likely I will list them in groups of 100. If they don't sell, then back to the thrift shop they go.

Those are from the digipack cases, and they're not replaceable. If it's damaged, you would have to buy the movie again to get a replacement, or use another blu-ray case to put the discs in. Also you can try to contact the manufacturer and maybe they'll be able to send you a empty case (without the discs).

Where can I find a replacement for this 5-discs case (I mean... exactly the same)?

I’m looking for the exact same replacement case, and I am pretty sure I found it on Goodwood (or megadiscstorecom on eBay). You have to buy them in quantities of five.
