Okay Sussudio, great name by the way, I was considering purchasing some 6-disc Viva Elite cases and making a custom cover for the entire Planet of the Apes series to fit the case. What type of paper and dimensions would I need?
I'm quite arse with Photoshop anyway. Same goes for me wanting some 2 and 3 disc Viva Elite cases. Figured might as well put the soundtrack in with the case for the 007 films in the MGM/FOX/EON run and some other titles. Would the clips hold a CD booklet alright in these cases? By the way with the titles already having isolated scores on Blu-ray I'm just keeping the non-ECO BOXES. Any help? ![]() Oh, I did buy the 2-Disc with Digital Copy, I throw those out, of X2 and it's great there's already an empty disc spot for the soundtrack. Now for The Dark Knight, would you consider I get 4-Disc cases and buy the 2-Disc soundtrack? Fun project, right? ![]() |

![]() I think your soundtrack project is awesome (I'm a big fan of film soundtracks myself). The 2 disc Dark Knight expanded soundtrack is incredible and well worth it over the 1 disc, so since TDK is already 2 discs then yes I would recommend buying a 4 disc. Meritline offers a 22mm 4 disc while MegaDiscStores's is 15mm...just keep that in mind. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful...I do my very best to maintain the thread but I don't know too much about the actual material ![]() |

Not all 5-disc cases are created equal. If you mention what type of case you have then someone may be able to help you with your dilemma. Is it an Elite or Vortex? What's the thickness of your current case? |

![]() My copy is about the size of two single disc cases, but as Vicon mentioned they also released a version in a slimmer case (slightly larger than a single disc case). As far as I'm aware Warner has always used Elite cases but that may not be true for multi-disc cases. Some users prefer to stick with the same brand of case. A single-disc Viva Elite is 12.5mm thick while a single disc Vortex is 11mm thick. Quote:
If you don't care about the brand then you could replace it with a Vortex 5-disc case. According to Meadwestvaco a 5 or 6 disc case is 21.8mm thick. The Vortex cases have an embossed chrome blu-ray logo (e.g. cases used by Sony) Otherwise other options may be to try and exchange the disc for another copy if feasible or buy another copy and sell off the original. I know it's probably not what you wanted to hear but those may be the only options right now. EDIT: primitiveskin has done an oustanding job documenting the different types of cases in this thread. https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-pc...akes-them.html Last edited by rdodolak; 02-18-2010 at 01:50 AM. |

Check with shoptomcom - https://www.blu-ray.com/community/co...y=title&page=5
He has 2 - 5 disc cases. One won't work as it has broken hinges but check the $7 dollar one. Sarah Conner Season 2. Not sure what case it uses but see if it's an Elite. Only other option to get an Elite, is to buy 5. |

Thanks for the compliments about my project! Makes me wish more Blu-ray releases had isolated score tracks. BUT for OHMSS, the track order for the remastered CD isn't in the same order as the film so I'd have to make a CD-R including for the tracks to be in the correct order. For GOLDFINGER, I have the original release and not the remastered version. The main reason for this idea is I figured alot of DVD releases included the films soundtrack, great example is Matchstick Men, throughout various titles. I figure might as well do the same thing for Blu-ray. ![]() |

Whenever I mention that a Blu-ray Disc Logo is "pad-printed" on the branding bar, this is a reference to the process of using...pad printing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pad_printing). The first generation of Viva Elites (and some generics) have whitish BD logos that were...pad-printed. Manufacturers, probably to aid in distinguishing their cases from one another, seem to be going away from the cheaper method of pad printing the branding bars, towards incorporating the logo directly into their injection molds, resulting in "embossed" logos. Thus, you can have raised symbols and lettering, as with Vortex and their sister Amaray cases, which are also silver colored. The newest generation of generic cases, including the multi-disc 22mm, also has a raised symbol and lettering, but no color has been applied to the logo. The slim 6mm single- and double-disc Viva Elites have sunken, uncolored logos, while all of the other Elites now have what I refer to as "silver foil stamp logos." All of the genuine Viva Elites that megadiscstore.com currently carries (which at this time apparently does NOT include the 12.5mm double-disc case) have the newer foil stamp logo. |

Sorry, but I would probably be an awful person to ask about these sorts of things. For one thing, I'm always insisting on calling them cover inserts, because...well...they have the cover art on them, but the better keywords to use in an Internet search might be "case inserts." I like to think that I'm in the "case replacement" segment of the market when I'm shopping, rather than being amongst the "custom application" brethren. |

Oh, come on! It's almost bedtime for me, but those so-and-sos at megadiscstore.com must have added the slim 6mm Viva Elite singles and doubles during the day when nobody was paying any attention. Why, I oughta...place an order sometime, especially the doubles, 'cause the early version of the slim double-disc case had teeth like on a CD jewel case. And what happens to teeth on a CD jewel case? Yep, they break pretty easily. Sassafrassin, goldurn, ding-dong-daddios! (Did I mention that I was cranky because I'm sleepy?)

I wonder what I'll do with the 3-Disc case The Dark Knight came in when I buy some 4-Disc cases? Might be early to use it for BATMAN (1989). I do have the soundtrack to KotCS and could just do it that way. ![]() I already have the soundtrack for CE3K but no way am I going to alter that very nice packaging of the 30th Anniversary Edition. Damn, I'm going to need to catch up on my Spielberg titles! |

For the 3-Disc Case for The Dark Knight I put the KotCS film BD discs on the flippy 2-Disc part and the CD at the end. I find the CD booklets seem to sit well when the staples are towards the top clip but are actually resting on the inside bottom of the case held by the bottom clip.
For the 2-Disc case KotCS came in, I put the film disc of THUNDERBALL where usually the film disc goes and the remastered CD score where the special deatures disc went. I dunno the graphic designs for the disc labels are too dissimilar to each other but it's nice. Gonna do the same for Live and Let Die but I have the non-remastered soundtrack to GOLDFINGER. For the 2-Discs of TDK, I put them in the single disc case. Since the hub for the Viva Elites are tall enough, I put the extra features disc on the bottom and the feature disc on the top. Easy peasy. ![]() I guess I'll finally check out my wishlist on Amazon.com for soundtracks! ![]() ![]() You know if more companies were willing to include the physical CD score to the film along with a booklet if they're not willing to include an isolate score track, I wouldn't mind shelling out a bit of extra dough for it. All they'd need to do is to have the soundtrack match the design of the BD label art. ![]() This is going to take me awhile! ![]() |

![]() I would pay extra to have the soundtrack for each movie too, but I'm betting the majority of people could care less and would not. |
