Hey, I’ve tried for help on Reddit but I’m having no luck. I’ve looked on eBay and Amazon but I’m receiving no joy.
I ordered a disc from eBay that was supposed to be in mint condition. It wasn’t. Please, see the photo. I’ve managed to get the label off. However, the prior owner tried and failed but left a lot of tears on the cover. I cannot for the life of me find an affordable 3-disc clear case. Any suggestions? So far, it would have been cheaper for me to buy from BFI store with international shipping. https://imgur.com/gallery/yijvFpN |

Goo Gone will help to remove that label for you and leave no damage. I use it all the time and it's 100% guaranteed to work with stickers/labels like that. It's going to be the cheapest option but will require 30 minutes or so of your time given how sticky that label looks. (Most stickers come off in about 10 minutes or less). If the case itself is cracked/damaged however... here is a ling to 3 disc cases. They are coming from Megadisc Store whom I use all the time. They have always shipped my cases in boxes wrapped in bubble wrap to ensure they reach you safely and so again, I definitely recommend them. https://www.amazon.com/Clear-MegaDis...%2C148&sr=1-36 |

My issue is the cost of a replacement case such as the one shared along with the disc itself will cost more than if I had bought it brand new. I may end up returning it and doing just that. More fool me for going the cheap route. But, when did replacement cases become so expensive? I used to get DVD boxes for about $.50. |

It is the standard UK thickness just like the image attached. And, that is awfully kind of you but I would not wish to put you out.

I've used CheckOutStore for my DVD cases and have been really happy with them, but they're (hopefully temporarily) out of the standard type and currently only have the premium type. I have no doubt it's worth the price, but they're a bit more expensive then the standrd ones I really like.

Anyone ever received a Blu-ray case from a manufacturer called Allaine? I bought a brandless DVD case from Germany which turned out to be from Allaine, they're located in France and has made CD, DVD and Blu-ray cases since 2010. I'm wondering because the DVD case I received has none of this greasy, oil-like, thin-filmed residue neither inside nor outside the case, like we find on our Blu-ray cases. It's still glossy, however not transparent, it's solid white, but in high gloss. It says 5 and PP on the spine beneath the recycling symbol, so it is made out of polypropylene, casting doubt on polypropylene being the root cause of the residue we're seeing. It says ALLAINE on the right half inside the case, similar to where Amaray puts AMARAY on their cases.
I have emailed them asking how polypropylene can be made without the grease, and for them to let me know all the cases they manufacture. I have yet to receive a response. |

The idea that the residue we're finding on our Blu-ray cases is something that is somehow "sweating" or bleeding out of the material that the cases are made of, is baseless speculation that folks on this forum and elsewhere have just thrown out there as a possible explanation. (Sometimes also referred to as "off-gassing".) There is absolutely no reason to think this has any basis in reality. It what other context have we ever seen a plastic object give off an oily residue like this?? Never.
The more well-informed explanation for the phenomenon is: the substance is something that is present during the case manufacturing process, and is supposed to be wiped off or otherwise removed before the end of that process. But for whatever reason, it's not always properly removed. This zombie idea of "case sweat" of "off-gassing" needs to be killed once and for all. Please let's stop spreading this misinformation! ![]() However, stmhlm, you are right that obviously some case manufacturers have been able to mass-produce cases that don't have this grease all over them, and we should encourage all manufacturers to adopt the correct procedures to prevent that from occurring. Amen. Last edited by RegressiveScan; 09-27-2023 at 11:51 PM. |

To me it's completely unimaginable how cases from big brands such as Amaray and Viva end up greasy in our hands. It's like there's no quality control at all, not only that, but even beyond. Think of all the film and distribution studios who originally puts down orders of thousands of cases, Disney, Paramount, Warner, Universal, you name them, none of them seem on top of it, addressing the concern as it has gone down for years and years. It's truly like no one cares, appalling. They don't even look at their own final product.

In a standard 2-disc case, what do you call the flapper part that holds the 2nd disc?
Does anywhere sell replacements of just that? (this is a long thread, it may have been discussed, but I don't even know what to call them to search) |

According to their eBay profile (where they still sell under the name megadiscstorecom) "This seller is away until 28 Oct, 2023, if you buy this item, expect a delay in shipping".
