For the ones interested, here is some info on shipping costs to Canada.
I ordered Vortex cases last time with US-Plastic, because they seemed to be the most affordable overall for the amount that I ordered. The shipping they calculated for me was $13 for 20 cases which totalled $22, or a little over $1 per case. Unfortunately, this time they informed me that that was only an incentive, and that the actual shipping costs were (and would be this time) much more. For 25 cases the shipping costs are $24, which now totals to $35 (or 34 cases for a total of 17+31=$48), being almost $1.50 per case. Therefore, I now ordered 25 Vortex cases with Discmakers, for a total of almost (8+22=) $30, or almost $1.20 per case. They told me on the phone that double the amount of cases (50) would also double the shipping costs ($44), which therefore still comes down to $1.20 per case. In conclusion, Discmakers is currently the most affordable option I found for a small amount of Vortex-cases (25) shipped to Canada, while US-Plastic is cheaper if you need more than 25 cases. By the way, if you only need 10 or less cases, that eBay-store mentioned above is your best option. UPDATE: the order with Discmakers arrived here in Canada in 2 days! (no tax, customs, brokerage, or admin-fees). They shipped DHL. Last edited by gekke henkie; 04-16-2010 at 04:50 AM. |

Oh, no! I'm turning into Mr. Crankypants because of cases that I've bought and how they were packaged. If I were given an option of having my cases packaged in bubble wrap vs. packing peanuts, I'd choose the wrap due to fragmentation issues with the peanuts. Last year, I bought some generic cases from SquareDealOnline.com and they were packaged with styrofoam blocks recycled from some other package. I mean, who doesn't have extra time in their day to pick miniscule bits of styrofoam off of their brand-new cases. So, imagine my delight when I recently received a package from everybody's favorite eBay case seller, Casetopia, and I could again pick off little bits of styrofoam to my heart's content.
Heck, why should I direct my slings and arrows solely at retailers that use styrofoam in their packages? Surely, I could be somewhat annoyed by say, megadiscstore.com, and how they sent me a wondrous package that smelled of...stale cigarette smoke?!? Grumble, grumble, grumble.... |

thanks for that info.
I don't usually do ebay myself, but have a friend that needs some also. It's hard to believe a "regular" online etailer doesn't have these. Obviously the studios will keep using them so some etailer might as well start carrying them imo. |

Not sure why everyone recommends that ebay seller when it's cheaper to buy them from Discmakers. That guy on ebay charges $9 and some change for 5 and you can get 25 for $14. You do the math. |

This needs to be confirmed, but Canada's megadiscstore.com may have transitioned from generic 12.5mm double-disc cases to genuine Viva Elite doubles. The U.S.-side of their operation, dvdcaseusa.com, appears to still be selling generic 12.5mm singles and doubles.

Has anyone ever had backorders with Discmakers? I ordered some 2-disc cases and I was told they are backordered, and that was over 2 weeks ago.
If anyone has had items backordered from them before, how long did it take for them to restock and fill your order? |

That is the thinner one (6 mm). They only sell the normal (12 mm) single and double sided cases in bulk of 20. I got them but their shipping is brutal. If I had more time, I would have just visited their store.
