What the difference besides being an inch taller? It works.

You can always by an HD movie. I see them all the time at fye's for like $5. Throw out the movie and keep the case.

Edit: here are some HD cases on ebay.

Think he wants red BD cases, and not HDDVD cases, specifically not just because they're the right size but also because a BD case would have the right logo.

Anyway, the closest you'll probably get is BD-sized red case without the HD-DVD logo.

12mm and 7mm

Or a Greatest Hits PS3 game.

Are the 2 disc ones they're selling at Best Buy any good? I'd like to use those to make fake combo packs and those ones are reasonably priced.

Default Defective cases

What's going on with Amazon's blu-ray stock? I've been getting a whole slew of movies lately with weird things going on with the cases. It's hard to explain it, but it's always in the translucent plastic holding the paper lining on the outside. The afflicted movies have these strange wavy lines along the plastic. It almost looks like lesions. I've been asking for replacements as I consider the whole movie defective since a case is not supposed to look like that, but I've gotten some movies 3 in a row with these issues.

What's causing this? These are considered defective, right? I've searched about this but found nothing on the subject.

I would have posted a new thread, but it seems I'm too new to do so.

I'm not entirely sure, but it could be what happens to the plastic when shrinkwrap is applied using heat. I have it on many cases. It makes the plastic wavy or bulgy or otherwise having weird patterns. I don't consider that defective though. As long as there's no cuts or holes, and doesn't obstruct the view of the cover art, it's fine by me.

Do these cases have the lock on the side? If so they are Vortex cases and infamous for somehow causing a wrinkly/washed look to the cover art.

I too get a bunch like that from Amazon. Its only when they come srink-wrapped so this has to be due to the heat gun they use to shrink wrap it.
I love when they shrink wrap the movies with slip covers because I've never received one damaged that had been shrink wrapped before shipping.

This has pissed me off that I contacted amazon to alter their shipping methods. I hate getting the cover all damaged like that, but I wont go through the hassle of returning it because the replacement will probably show up just the same.

Perhaps, but a lot of them came in padded manila envelopes without any shrink wrap. They must do something to their stock in the warehouse and I think it is due to the shrinkwrap heat gun. I suspect some might also be re-wrapped returns!

I'm going to actually call them (or at least try) and complain REAL hard. Perhaps convince them to just give me a partial refund per movie and just go get replacement cases myself. Almost all the cases are the Viva Elite ones. There there are some with the spine snap tab (or whatever it's called).

I NEVER get movies in this condition from anywhere else.

Switched out a bunch of cases already, Best Buy's Dynex cases seem to be the same size as Viva Elite ones, so now I have some extra 3 disc cases, my fake combo packs are in 2 disc blu-ray cases and I have a couple eco cases that are headed to the trash. Still have a few left over for my next 3 combo packs that I make.
