I prefer the original cases for each title. If it came in a Vortex, it should be in a Vortex. On certain titles, some cover art inserts actually don't fit if you switch the cases.

As for the value, I don't think it harms it much, especially if you stick to the official two brands of cases (Vortex and Viva).

Oh Alpha, now you did it. I wasn't aware that the inserts didn't fit on certain cases. Now I'm second guessing myself. I though t the insert space was universal across the board.

lol, I hope I didn't dash your hopes!

I always thought the space was universal too. When Hollywood Video had that big closing sale, I came across some BD's where I wasn't too sure about the original case. I would try a Vortex case, and the cover art didn't fit. I couldn't even close the case. And if I forced it, it would almost definitely rip the insert. So I tried a Viva for the same BD, and it was perfect. Ended up looking up the title online, and it was indeed a Viva. I've also had some sellers ship out BD's in wrong cases, knownigly too because they would leave the insert inside the case with the BD, lol. But overall, that's only a problem with very few titles, at least as far as I know.

I know of a few people that have changed all their cases to Viva with no problems. And if I had to choose, I'd go with Viva. Vortex is a tad thinner and that might be responsible, but I don't really have the specs for the insert space. Regardless, I think you'll be alright if you're switching to Viva.

I guess I can try switching a few Vortex into Viva's from my own personal collection and see how it works out before I decide to order replacements.

Has anyone ever seen on amazon or ebay or any other website for that matter a blu-ray case that holds more than 6 discs such as the 25mm Viva Elite ones described in the original post of this thread or from another brand?

I would like to insert 9 discs of the Mel Brooks collection into one case and get rid of the huge packaging.

I wish there was a place I could buy those clear cases Criterion uses for their Blu-ray releases. Criterion charges too much.

Default Blu-ray replacement case(s) question

I have been re-organizing my Blu-ray collection (finally!) and I need to order some replacement cases for the following and I am not sure what I need to be looking for:

Blade Runner 5 disc set
Mad Men Seasons 1 & 2
The Incredibles
Breaking Bad Season 2
Justified Season 1
The Police: Certifiable

I think that it is for now, since everything else is either a standard Disney style case or one similar to Warner.

Thanks in advance.

Started a separate thread, since I, for some reason, did not see this one, my question is:

i know but the cover art is longer because it's in a thicker case than the other pressing of the Blade Runner 5-Disc Edition that's out now. I ordered a 5-Disc case from casetopia and low and behold the case was too skinny for the cover art. I wonder where I can find a case like the first press?

For the early Blade Runner set I think you'd want the Vortex 5-disc case, which has a 22mm spine...did you order the Viva Elite 5-disc case, which is 15mm wide?

Well, I actually prefer Casetopia. Their prices are reasonable, and you can get cases for up to 6 discs each. I ordered a few Vortex and Viva Elites from them a few days ago; now just waiting for them to show up in the mail.

Does anyone know where you can get replacement UK style BD cases, because they are a little thicker than the ones we have in the US, Australia has the thicker cases to.
