Guys, I need some help... I just got Lost - Season 5 via Amazon, and the case came broken... I live in Brazil, so it's difficult for me to return it... I'd like to know what kind of case is the one used on season 5, and where can I buy one... thanks!

What is the difference between...

Special Edition Blu-Ray DVD Cases and the Blu-Ray DVD Cases on sleeve city?

The special edition is cheaper so I'm guessing it's made of cheaper material/smaller?

For S5, it's a 5-disc Vortex.

You can get it on eBay right here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-1-VORTEX-FIV...item53e60e0646

Seller ships worldwide, so you shouldn't have a problem. Hope that helps!

The Special Edition appear to be generic cases (based on the hub design in the picture) where as the regular cases are either Vortex (1/2-disc) or Viva Elte (3-disc).

Default Unused eco cases

After you replace a single disc case, what are you guys doing with your old eco cases & old wrinkled plastic cases?

I dislike the eco cases especially if they have the holes rather than the other eco ones that are just very thin & flimsy but wouldn't replace the case.

I'm trying to figure out how many & which type of cases to buy. 1,2 or 3 disc.

More difficult then I had thought. If I combine a single disc DVD with a single disc BD due to lack of special features -- I need a 2 disc BD case & I will free up a single disc BD case. I can use that single BD case for one of my BBV BDs.

BTW, When you use a double or triple new BD case for your BD & old DVD, do you keep the DVD booklet if it has artwork & production notes? I have a few times, folding it (gasp) so it will fit in the BD case. Fit is the wrong word, crammed is more accurate

Blade Runner - 5-Disc Complete Collector's Edition Thick Case

When I purchased the 5-disc thick case, the outer plastic sleeve was rippled. As you can see from the picture below (it was the same on the back):

[Show spoiler]

So I decided to replace the case. The problem was, I could not find the same Viva Elite 22mm (approx) spine thick case. So I opted for the Vortex 5-disc 22mm case:

[Show spoiler]

I actually prefer the Vortex cases with the indented Blu-ray logo and the superior build quaility over the Elite. (Vortex first, Elite second):

The only problem with the Vortex is that, the booklet would not fit to the left, where the clips are situated, due to the design of the Vortex. So I positoned it in between the two disc arms:

Due to the way the Vortex arms can be latched onto the edge of the case, when I open it, it opens up in the middle which allows me to remove the booklet, to access the other discs (although a little fussy, atleast the arms don't flap around like the Elite and are a lot more sturdier, plus easier to flip the arm & take out the discs because of the finger/thumb cut outs):

[Show spoiler]

Viva Elite Case, as you can see the arms cannot be attached to the case:

[Show spoiler]

I hope this has helped anyone out, if they are looking for a replacement case for the thicker release .

Not bad, but it would bother me so much to not have the original. Whenever I watch my copy, I'm VERY careful in opening it, more so than any other BD because there's no exact replacement.

Yes I understand. My copy was second hand and as seen in the first picture, the entire front and back sleeve was rippled . It just looked horrible. I would have replaced it with the proper case but couldn't find it. But as I said I prefer the Vortex case over the Elites, so I am quiet happy with it. Although keeping to the original would have been my first choice .

I like the thin cases that a lot of movies come with now. Are they the 6mm ones?

Default $0.45 Cases!!

USPLASTIC.com has the Vortex (side-lock) cases for $0.45 for the single disc cases. They also have various multi-disc cases. There is no minimum number you have to buy and shipping is very quick - too just 2 days! All of my cover art so far for the ones I have bought have fit nicely into the cases, esp the Sony titles I got(50 First Dates and Rudy) since Sony uses the Vortex cases.

Isn't Discmakers the same case, but slightly cheaper?

It might be the same case, but like I said, USPlastic doesn't have bulk requirements like discmakers. You can buy just 1 case from USP if you want. I only needed 10 cases, so an extra 15 from Discmakers is just a waste. For some in the forum who have bought 60-100 or so then it may be worth it for them to buy from there, but I think for most of us, we don't need cases in bulk of 25 or more.

Ya, a buddy and I are going in together. Splitting shipping, too... Great deal for a bulk buy. I like the no requirements from USPlastic, but needed about 35 for myself, so bulk is ok this time

Side lock? Does that mean the latch on the side?

You are right about that. There have been quite a few times that I got stuff from Amazon or Bestbuy that happened to me as well. In addition to damaged cases, there are a few times I had to swap out the case because stickers or price labels couldn't be removed. This happened to me a lot when Gamestop still had used Blu-rays.

A few years back I bought 50 on ebay for $25. Although they were the generic ones without the blu-ray word on top. Every time I trade in blu-rays in Amazon or etc., I swapped out the cases. Just yesterday, I swapped out the last two I had. So I have about 10-15 of the real blu-ray cases now. Didn't think I would go through them that fast. I just used 5 of them today after I got my 5 blu-rays from BBV today.

The last time I bought cases was when I got 5 2-disc blu-ray cases. Which were useful for the Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Indiana Jones 4 which both had 2 discs.
