Fears, fears, fears. Decisions made in fear are rarely wise. Decisions are best made with supporting evidence/facts.

Covid-19 is worse than flu but it is no Ebola. Death rate is higher than common flu but that is largely elderly and people with weakened immunity.

Local outbreaks of Covid-19 have been a result of people gathering in places where people-people distance is less than 2 meters, made worse if it is an enclosed space, made even worse if there're a lot of open mouth activities, heavy breathing, etc. Avoid that.

Going to Costco to fight over who gets the last bag of TP, ironically, is not it.

I'm noticing this too. It's 70 degrees and sunny out right now and there's hardly anyone out.

I have employer-provided healthcare, and I decided to go with the more expensive plan this year ($50 a pay vs $25 a pay) and so far it's been totally worth it.

$350 deductible, $1,600 max
$20 PCP/MedExpress copay, $30 specialist copay
$125 ER copay w/ 100% covered after copay
Then I only pay 10% on everything else

I was already in the ER once this year and had some testing done, and they billed my insurance for $22k (which is ridiculous). I only had to pay $125.

If it costs thousands to get tested poor people will take their chances. We can't lockdown whole cities. Our best hope is a vaccine.

Poor people are, or should be covered by medicaid for the testing.

All St Patrick's Day Parades across Ireland, including the main parade in Dublin, have now been cancelled because of current health advice relating to Coronavirus. So it means that Coronavirus has effectively killed off the much needed start to Ireland's tourism season for the year.

Ireland's caretaker government announced a €3 billion aid package to deal with Coronavirus. €435 million has given to the Health Service Executive.

There are now 33 confirmed cases of Coronavirus on the island of Ireland.

Last update ... now ...
https://covid19info.live/

The oil industry, the aviation industry, the cruise ship industry, the travel industry, the stock market industry, the global industrial world doesn't take it very well...they feel sick in their stomach.
It's a grizzly situation, on the precipice of pandemonium, on the hedge of pandemic, in bear territory.

I'm surprised we haven't read more about what the Hollywood/movie theater fall out (weekend B.O. grosses) is with public fears and avoidance of being amongst crowds.

I think as we go we'll find out more about the Hollywood movie theater business.
In China it sure has a tremendous impact in the first two months of 2020 compared to the first two months of 2019, by an enormous financial margin.

Over 4,000 deaths worldwide (112 countries/regions).
Many scientists say it is a Pandemic, but WHO still remains silent in declaring it.
It makes sense; to not spread Panic.

Me I don't see it that way, but true reality fact.
It's what we don't know exactly what's coming up that imbalances us from our foundations.

Italy is now officially under lockdown with a decree coming into effect from tomorrow morning.

This live update from The Guardian.

Quote:
All of Italy on lockdown – Prime Minister

All of Italy will be placed under the lockdown conditions thus far imposed upon the so-called “red zone” in the north of the country, the Italian prime minister Giuseppe Conte has said.

The restrictions will include banning all public gatherings and preventing all movement other than for work and emergencies. According to the Reuters news agency, he has said the decision was necessary to protect Italy’s most vulnerable citizens and that the right course of action now is for people to stay at home.

All sporting events will be suspended, Conte has told a press conference. The country is grappling to contain Europe’s worst outbreak of covid-19, which has claimed 463 lives and infected a total of 9,172 people.

Conte added that he will sign the decree now and it will come into effect on Tuesday morning.

The announcement in Italy spells out the restriction of movement of more than 60 million people.

The decree provides for banning all public events, closing cinemas, theatres, gyms, discos and pubs, funerals, weddings and all sport events, including Serie A matches. All schools and universities will remain close until 3 April

I wonder if going to the store buy food is considered an emergency? They didn't say if stores would be closed.

Our office had to leave in the middle of the day today and work from home for the rest of the day. Apparently, my boss heard a news that someone in her apartment building has been infected with the virus. So upper management sent her home and she's mandated to work from home for 14 days. Our office is being cleaned and sterilized right now. We can come back to the office tomorrow, but not sure if I even want to go back. Thankfully my boss hasn't seen this person nor came in contact, but it's still scary to hear. Not to mention that I ride a crowded subway everyday so who knows who else is exposed!

This is really bad, guys! Much worse than I expected!

Same in my area. Funny thing is, the supermarkets around my neighborhood have some stuff left on the shelves. Apparently, people chose to do their food shopping at Dollar Tree, which is retarded. I would not trust places like that when it comes to food. Who knows where they get the food from and why it's so cheap...
