So all this talk about how much better the Exynos 9810 is over the SD845 and that's the 1 that can't record in hdr?

Not a colorist. I can only wear so many hats.

But to add to the ongoing DoVi conversation,

And while at it, why not show a sample of what 10K nits looks like when it's mastered on a 4K nit monitor. Notice the clipping?

Also, with Dolby tools, one can natively derive Rec. 709 and HDR10 from the Dolby Vision source. This allows content creators to make all their encodes from the DoVi source, e.g. the Rec. 709 profiles: CE1 & CE2 (legacy VC1), CE3 (H264), CE4 (10-bit HEVC, and VP9), and mobile profiles AVC-HiProfile and VP9-M (8-bit), in addition to the CE4 HDR profiles: Dolby Vision and HDR10 (HEVC), and VP9.

In fact, with future development there is really no technical reason, if someone chose to do so, for DoVi playback not to support HDR10+.

Q&A -

(if folks recall, the ATSC has adopted HLG and HDR10 as options in the ATSC 3.0 DTV standard. The group also elevated SL-HDR1 and Dolby Vision-based SMPTE 2094-10 to candidate-standard status for possible adoption as ATSC 3.0 options).

Now, lunchtime
End contributions.

Yeah, I read that exact line-up this Netflix DV piece the other day when searching for an answer to ray's poser, but being a theoretician (such a kind euphemism) and not a professional I didn't want to interject in this specific case. (Article was already linked to by Penton a good few months ago, here it is again: http://www.streamingmedia.com/Articl...10-118853.aspx)

Well, you’re in a mighty good mood considering what happened yesterday. I’m envious. I even tried to make a return appearance on the Premier League thread in the Sports forum to console you, but I couldn’t find it? Wuz up with that ?

Anyway, being a ‘theoretician’ at the time is fine. Another that can walk the walk and talk the talk – see next to the last sentence of the bio of Wolfgang…..https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...g#post14581952

b.t.w., red one of your posts somewhere on this forum, can’t remember which thread, too many, so WRT that, Universal stuff should be improving, at least in terms of consistency as they’ve recently gained a worthy addition….https://www.linkedin.com/in/anniechang1/

Meh, Palace always lose to Tottingham but Arsenal getting battered in the final cheered me up no end. Left a post extolling your team's virtues in the football thread, it's still there alright...

Replacing the short-sighted gimboid who seems to have presided over a slew of their recent HDR re-grades can't come a moment too soon.

Sony's new α7 III mirrorless camera records 4k HLG, S-Log2 and S-Log3.

https://alphauniverse.com/stories/so...p-with--7-iii/

So it seems that Sony is all-in on HDR/HLG recording. Every new camera has it, and their new flagship smartphone has it. The A7 is their "entry" level full frame mirrorless camera. I hope HLG recording keeps trickling down into the cheaper cameras until it's ubiquitous.

And I presume everyone who thanked you knows full well what ‘full’ means. ^
As I hastily also made note of several days ago…..

It can't be something as mundane as 'full' video levels, can it? I notice that 2themax's pic of the waveform goes from 0-1023 which is the entire range for 10-bit video, not the 64-940 that's used for the conventional 'limited' range on consumer-grade encoding and playback.
