Frank, Al and Dan with Monday Night Football brings back good memories , for back then it was common for me to work every 3rd or 4th Sunday which meant I only got to watch football live with my rowdy friends on Monday night.

hey, if you see rickah in one of those dedicated football threads around this forum tell him Penton said that I hope his wife is keeping him in line with the divergent teams in their household

The paragraph titled ‘HDR Industry Standards’ in this newest one - https://www.flatpanelshd.com/focus.p...&id=1566562819
is actually oversimplifying a few big picture details.

Unfortunately, this is how the video standardization is heading in general. Why?
Greed, parallel formats development by different interest groups within different and too often even in the same standard committees that ignore each other, artificially too large number of activities and therefore experts involved in a single standardization meeting to the extent that nobody knows what is going on in activities running in parallel, personal ego and despotic behavior of some whose brains have already started to fossilize, ...

and as if these were not serious enough, pretending the situation is exactly the opposite and recommending to extend this to more multimedia standardization activities!

And Bruce might not have the nice fur carpet of Chuck's upper chest but he wasn't small peanuts. Did Bruce teach Chuck how to fight? ...Or did he teach him how to do aerial splits between two planes? Anyway he can do those with great prowess.

That short Facebook video (MV-22 Osprey military aircraft); not that many people can locate high grade stuff Iike that other than Penton-Man, I can tell you that much.

With all that HDR Top Gun Maverick Chuck Bruce super fighter jets discussion...a small extra:

LOTR Welcome back. Some of us missed you. I'll be in your town on Sat. to board a cruise ship.

You don't have to use up ALL your material in one hour, or one day.
You can spread it out a little.

Pepe Le Pew out!

Gregg, LordoftheRings (Bob) is the resident expert but I’ll chime in to say that I hope you get to spend at least a little time in the city and environs. If you’ve never been, Hop on hop off gives a good gestalt view – https://www.viator.com/tours/Vancouv...r/d616-5313HOP

You should be able to easily get tickets on site with the concierge from your hotel. My personal opinion is that the PARK route is the best bang for the buck and with that make sure you hop off at Stanley Park and Granville Island market for lunch, browsing, etc.

Lol, good one ...

You know your way around...Stanley Park indeed, Granville Island Market, Gastown nightclubs, Lions Gate Bridge, many good restaurants in downtown, scenic drive North Vancouver, million dollar houses with billion dollar views, hiking the backyard, the several beaches, etc., etc., etc.

I used to live in Vancouver by stretches over many many years. I enjoyed the theater movies scene, all type and styles (inside architecture), and same for films...from popular to lesser known art films.

Vancouver is sometimes voted the best city, or among the top best, for this and that ... beautiful, friendly, lovely, climate, ... from one year or another (worldwide).
The several small islands between the mainland and Vancouver Island have their own romantic magic.

Gregg, enjoy your cruise coming up. You're one of the best members here.

Panasonic TVs are going to have that mode just by the simple press of a remote's button. Are they reintroducing Panasonic (OLED HDR) TVs in the USA?

Consumers (masses) rejoice with Filmmaker Mode.

Another article about FilmMaker Mode displays:

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/column...ts/082819-1100

I hope whatever displays get this setting are capable of executing with adequate nits, tone mapping and WCG.
Isn't this really what Dolby Vision was trying to accomplish, but there has been so much resistance in certain quarters, that the DV mission has kind of limped along in certain disc encoding groups and manufacturer circles?

I wonder if some will still find a way to put Vivid mode on top of this new display setting?

MehC it’s the same as Movie Mode, Cinema Mode, Cinema Pro, Custom, etc. The only difference is now they will all have the same name.

Since Wendy and I started Value Electronics in 1998 we trained our techs and clients to do everything that is recommended by the UHD Alliance in the new "Film Maker Mode" initiative. Tens of thousands of TV and projectors we've sold in the past 22 years have been set-up properly to enjoy the best and most faithful image quality that is built-into films since the invention of Cinema.

I am so very happy to see the UHD Alliance develop the attributes they expect all TV manufacturers to follow and offer to the public!
