I imagine VVC takes some serious DSP horsepower to decode.

AVS many years ago had some problems but I found the mods I communicated with to be reasonable. However, some of the mods did play favorites and made arbitrary decisions which I felt were based on playing favorites (but they could have been pressured by management). During the format wars many people were treated unfairly and left AVS. Since I only access several forums some mods still may be making decisions which are arbitrary.

I don't get it. There's no digital eco system to push them. If there was a digital download platform that covered the whole of the film enthusiast community, then they could get the encoding houses chugging along. Then feed it down into your casual streaming services. Which offers what exactly to a market where you could inject data into a potato, fling it into a microwave for two minutes, and the vivid masses would still be in awe? Optimisation, i guess?

Cliques abound on all these forums.

I would have found it fun to be with a girl named Roxanne in ’78, as for that particular date in ’71, I was hangin with the boys in an arena with a lot of screaming fans - decades later despite us being spread all across the country, I've kept up with some of them.
Penton, all the nice people are gone from AVS.
It's a business site. There are several bandits extremely violent spoiling all the good times to others. The good info you take it with the bad also. You make the balance and make your choice. It's everyone for themselves, too many think they are the ultimate authority in audio and video...science my axe. The sandbox to play is toxic many times, very toxic.
That's my opinion and I respect that opinion.
You have the largest number of trolls there more than Twitter. It's a nasty virus.
If you want HDR info here is much more calm and relax.

Roxan(n)e is a beautiful name for a girlfriend, and she was beautiful too.

AVS is also on Facebook, and nice people on other sites with better attitudes and knowledge.

Back to HDR ...

P.S. Sometime I'll send you some pics ... flowers, trees, ocean, mountains, marinas, boats, ...all that nice jazz.

Regarding Vincent Theo; I remember very well how he was treated in few places.
I cannot stand that...immature. It's not about the poster it's about what he brings to the table, and few people are just too stubborn for having a civilised discussion and they rather attack the poster to defend their own one-way opinion. Some people they simply don't want to learn, to be taught to a higher level.
It's human nature in many, and disrespect becomes the menu du jours.

HDR and Dolby Vision are moving targets; anyone's intention, any creator, re-creator, spectator, visionary, ...in the arts of moving pictures is an apprentice of tomorrow's new evolution.

LG Display has delayed the starting of operations at its 10.5th-generation organic light emitting diode (OLED) panel line at Paju indefinitely, sources within the company told TheElec on Tuesday.

The company initially planned to begin production sometime between 2022 to 2023 but this has been delayed by three years to between 2025 to 2026, they said. Though nominally three years, it is in fact an indefinite delay, they added.

In January this year, LG Display has announced that it was postponing investments into the factory, dubbed P10. The company said at the time that it expected investments into the 10.5th-generation (2940mm x 3370mm) line to begin in or after 2023.

A month earlier in December, the South Korean display panel maker notified its equipment suppliers beforehand that it expects production at P10 to be delayed.

At the time, it was expected to be a delay of one to two years. Initially, the factory was set to began operations in 2022 with a production rate of 30,000 substrates per month. This would have been increased to 45,000 substrates per month in the first half of 2023. Chemical vapor deposition equipment made by US’s Applied Materials and Jusung Engineering has already been supplied to the factory in May, 2019.

However, LG Display has not sent any updated schedule to its suppliers since then, which raised fears of further postponements.

YAS, which supplies OLED deposition equipment to LG, is yet to receive the order for the needed equipment. It should have been supplied no later then in February even in LG’s one to two years delay schedule.

LG Display has posted five straight quarters of losses as of the first quarter of 2020. It is facing stiff competition from Chinese vendors in Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and lower than expected demand for OLED panels.

Its current 8.5th generation OLED line at Guangzhou, China has also suffered from lowered operation rate. This will need to recover for LG to begin considering investing at its 10.5th generation OLED line in Paju, South Korea.

LG Display will announce its future plans for the Paju line at its conference call for the second quarter on July 23, one of the people said.

Hadn't seen that thread until now, but it was pretty amusing seeing him demolish that random/irrelevant poster.

It was a thorough beat down.

Well I have to disagree with that. As I've said, they're quite inviting in the couple of threads I've visited, e.g. HDR Discussion, etc. and Stacey's thread is top drawer as well as the interaction among readers there.

And actually from what I’ve been hearing in personal communications by legacy members, whom I trust, and who were following during the whole calibrator debate between the two in the thread I inquired about is that the moderators did an admirable job, Vincent was very logical and respectful whereas D-Nice was getting way, way out of hand, ergo some deletions of his responses and that the Thriller in Manila was further posturing rather than serving as a platform for intellectual advancement with regards to the HDR issues, ergo it never happened. But let’s not divert anymore discussion to this as there’s no need.

Penton, many years ago during the format wars you left AVS because of all the politics and came to Blu-ray.com.

Is there any 1080p 10-bit or HDR content online that I can stream to my laptop? My screen is 1080p but has HDR capabilities. I'm ignorant.

This is what I have

Supporting the "wrong" HDR format if it's 16-bit!
