Sort of like the misanthropic, ultra-rich purchaser of pilfered art masterpieces, hidden away in what used to be his/her mother's basement for the edification of no one but him/herself! Pathetic.

Just found out Rhonda Fleming, one of my favorite Golden Age 3-D stars, died on Wednesday at the age of 97. Rhonda is one of the first people who come to mind when thinking about those 3-D classics, all of which many of us own on 3-D Blu-ray, including Those Redheads From Seattle, Jivaro and Inferno.

I hadn't read that news, thanks for mentioning it here. It's sad to hear, but what a great long life she'd been blessed with. My favourite of those three 3D films is Inferno, in which she looks absolutely stunning. Whilst all stars of cinema live on forever, those lucky enough to have been in captured in 3D live on just that bit more powerfully I think.

Hi from Joe. The Queen of 3-D is gone!! R.I.P. to one of Hollywood's most beautiful stars! Loved her films as a kid-- probably because many were in 3-D but I surely thought Rhonda was gorgeous too! My 3-D Fleming-starrers are the above-mentioned "Inferno," "Jivaro" and "Three Redheads From Seattle." Must watch at least one tonight.

Ahhh --- Rhonda! Always have had a weakness for Redheads. Rhonda, Arlene, Ann, Alexis, and so on. And they've been the death of me in my personal life! (Sorry 13M)

Whoops! I forgot Maureen.

Something different than when they were released by WA in 3D in 2019?

You'll be very pleased to know that I have found a 3D angle to the BEANSTALK project and will be announcing it as a stretch goal in a week or so...

Great in 3-D, the stereo cinematography in Glacier National Park is outstanding!

Very much agreed, Bob!

I first learned of Dangerous Mission in Morgan and Symmes' book Amazing 3-D. I was still a youngster in those days, and frankly, Dangerous Mission was way, way low on my bucket list of 3-D films to see someday.

I wound up catching Dangerous Mission for the first time at Expo I, then again at Expo II, and again at Expo III. The film is now number four in my personal top five Golden Age 3-D favorites.

Don't get me wrong-- there are "better" 3-D movies with stronger stories. Your mileage will surely vary. But, for me, seeing Dangerous Mission in a theater, in three dimensions, with a responsive crowd, vaults me right up to cloud nine. The experience is as close as I will ever come to an exciting, super-eventful vacation in one of our beautiful national parks... in the year 1953.

Over and above all that, there is one very surprising character twist that, seen on the big screen with one's total involvement as a fully engaged viewer, is positively bone-chilling. And, believe me, I'm not the only one who says so.

Is DM in Warner's hands now, being an RKO release? That would make a 3D Blu-ray someday seem unlikely.

When I had the 35mm film archive, I had original left/right 35mm prints of 30 Golden Age features. The pair I held on DANGEROUS MISSION were absolutely stunning dye-transfer Technicolor prints from the original release and they were screened very often.

The flat masters of the RKO 3D titles currently shown on TCM are decades old and might even be standard definition. They're a FAR cry from the original theatrical 35mm prints with their rich and vibrant color palette.

It's a real shame they are buried in the vaults at WB...
