Cannot wait for the announcement. I'll admit that there are some titles that would make me happier than others, but it'll be good news either way.

If I had to guess based on the guesses that were made prior to that comment, I'd probably go with Revenge of the Creature. An announcement now from Universal would put the release date for a Creature set around September just in time for October.

Bob hinted that there might be one more from 3dFA after "Cease Fire" this year, so that would also be my guess. On the other hand, the announcement might be just the exact release date for "Cease Fire"

But if it's Universal's "Creature" set, I hope they allow 3dFA to do a partial corrective remaster of the first film to pick up the errors.

I believe the announcement is either for Revenge of the Creature (1955) (Universal), Gorilla at Large (1954) (Fox/TT), or Bwana Devil (1952) (MGM). A long shot is I, the Jury (1953).

Look, y'all, I am just sick and tired of waiting for SOS Over the Taiga ! Sick and tired!

I want me some Soviet 3-D and I want it now!

What kind of capitalists are you, you video companies?! Do you despise my ducats this badly?!

Then again, yeah, I'll have two copies of whatever it turns out to be. Thanks.

For various reasons, I truly believe they're ALL coming soon. Just in what order? I do have a little doubt about "Gorilla" as Bob F. has said there's no 3D master yet, so Fox and TT have to wrangle over who's going to pay for it. And I doubt very much it will be TT!

So how about a hint? B&W or COLOR?

Released? or not released in 3-D?

My post above is obviously meant in jest, but in answer to your question: NOPE.

For a long time, SOS Over the Taiga loomed in my imagination as a potentially entertaining example of Soviet Stereo 70. Then I found a 2-D copy on YouTube and was cured of my unfounded belief within a few minutes. Granted, I only speak about four words of Russian, but I can tell you the film appears apolitical (a definite plus, given its provenance) and as innocent as a box of kittens, but it's also not very inspired or exciting.

All that being said, if some enterprising "decadent capitalist" company ever does release Soviet 3-D films to Blu-ray, including SOS Over the Taiga, sign me up at once. I will most definitely bite.

I agree.

Even though Shout Factory has been a bit iffy in it's support of 3-D titles, with Amityville and Metalstorm not looking as good as they should, they still do release 3-D titles if they are available in 3-D. So I'm optimistic that they will release Bwana Devil in 3-D. Hopefully, this time they'll employ the 3-D Film Archive's expertise instead of trying to do it in house.

I believe TT and Fox will figure out a way to release Gorilla at Large in 3-D. Even with stars like Ann Baxter, Lee Marvin, Raymond Burr, and Lee J Cobb, a typical $29.99 price tag will be difficult to move units since the film isn't that great. I know I probably wouldn't buy it without the 3-D included.

My guess for the forthcoming announcement, is a Creature boxset featuring a 3-D Film Archive remaster of Revenge of the Creature. It certainly fits in terms of 'a lot of people' would be 'quite happy' with that. Of course we'd be very happy if Universal took the opportunity to allow 3-D Film Archive to correct the issues with the 3D master of the previous Creature From the Black Lagoon release, but I don't think that's going to happen.

There are a handful of titles that'd make me be extremely happy to be wrong about this! However I would certainly be quite happy with Revenge of the Creature.

I saw GORILLA AT LARGE over 40 years ago on broadcast TV. It was not an experience I would care to repeat. Even with 3D.

I'd still watch it in 3-D, but probably not as much as I'd watch Inferno, House of Wax, or It Came From Outer Space.

I looked up a bunch of Soviet 3D titles on YouTube once too. None of them looked very good except for Robinson Crusoe. I'm sure their stereo is exemplary, but most aren't even in the same ballpark as Hollywood's Golden Age B pictures. They are ultra-low budget and look more like stage plays than typical films.

Revenge of the Creature is my guess, which would be awesome. I, the Jury would make me pretty happy though. I'm also looking forward to Kinos eventual releases of The Maze and Flight to Tangier.
