Bob, I hugely appreciate your assessment of Dangerous Mission. I think I have mentioned before in conversation how much I love that flick.
If no one minds, I will offer my personal Top 10 list of 1950s 3-D films. Maybe others would like to offer theirs as well: 1. House of Wax 2. Inferno 3. Miss Sadie Thompson 4. Dangerous Mission 5. Gog 6. Gorilla at Large 7. Those Redheads from Seattle 8. Revenge of the Creature 9. Kiss Me Kate 10. The Charge at Feather River I hasten to add, the numbering here is almost arbitrary. Although House of Wax is squarely and immovably at the top of my list, my affection for Inferno is really only marginally greater than my great love for The Charge at Feather River. And there are other titles not mentioned here (including but not limited to The Maze, It Came from Outer Space, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Hondo and September Storm) that for me are absolutely indispensable. |

To celebrate the arrival of The Maze this morning (I almost did a Tommy Rall somersault), here's my top 10:
1. House of Wax 2. Miss Sadie Thompson 3. Inferno 4. Kiss Me Kate 5. Gog 6. Those Redheads from Seattle 7. Dial M for Murder 8. It Came from Outer Space 9. Creature from the Black Lagoon 10. September Storm As you've probably guessed, I've only seen the Golden Age titles available on blu-ray. Of those yet to be released in that format, these are red hot (like, Kathryn Grayson hot) on my wish list: Second Chance Gorilla at Large Hondo Jivaro Dangerous Mission |

For the moment, The Maze is my favorite 3-D movie of all time. I've watched it four full times already since receiving it. Last night, I was watching it a fifth time, but fell asleep with the 3-D glasses on. I also think The Maze boasts the best restoration of any classic 3-D movie on Blu-ray.

I'm another who has never seen a Golden Age 3D film in a theater, but from my collection at home, I'd go with:
1. It Came From Outer Space 2. Creature From the Black Lagoon 3. Inferno 4. The Maze 5. House of Wax 6. Gun Fury 7. Gog 8. Those Redheads From Seattle 9. The Mad Magician I have Dial M For Murder, but haven't watched it yet. For some reason I keep putting that off, even though I'm a big Hitchcock fan. I suspect both Sangaree and Jivaro will be jostling for position on my list when they're released; from what I've seen, both of those really appeal to me. And if and when we see Revenge of the Creature, I know that will be among my favorites. |

Of course, I will ask in the future about "Flight to Tangier" -- 3 strip Technicolor. That will be a story to tell. |

Did I write that? Never mind. Freudian slip. Corrected the lists.
My favorite 3-D blurays are all 3-D Film Archive releases. All the conversions and digital-era 3-D are a disappointment, compared to the real thing. |

I wouldn’t go that far. I have thoroughly enjoyed some of the vintage titles but there are some cracking modern 3D transfers also. Gravity looked fantastic and 3D really added to the sense of depth and infinity. Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 looked delightful in 3D, as did titles like The Walk, Thor Rangorak and Doctor Strange.
