Yes, mono audio.

NBCUniversal did outstanding scans of the 35mm left/right camera negatives in 4K. The grading and image clean-up of dirt and damage is superb.

That being said, there are LOTS of stereoscopic issues with this one. UI had dismantled their underwater 3-D rig and quickly assembled another for the start of production in July 1954. There are shots where the shutters are out-of-phase (not fixable) and higher than average issues with vertical mis-alignment which have all been corrected. Editor Paul Weatherwax cut a number of shots flipped into the OCN (left on right) and they have all been fixed as well.

In short, a VAST improvement over what was seen in 1955 and on all subsequent revivals and anaglyphic conversions. If it gets a 3-D Blu-ray release, you'll be seeing it in the comfort of your home looking better than ever before!

With all that time, love and money invested in the restoration, surely it can only be a matter of when, not if...

For the record, my quote is from August 24, 2015 - LONG before any work was done for NBCUniversal on this title - and has no relevance to the current situation/status on REVENGE OF THE CREATURE.

My "neener" starts in early 2017 about the time of the release of "ICFOS".

Thanks for the information.
4k scans. This is gonna look spectacular.
... and the aspect ratio is 1.85-1?
How extensive are the out of phase shots?

Bob, can you confirm or deny if Universal allowed you fix the issues with the 3-D Blu-Ray of the first Creature film?

Wow! Sounds like you guys had a lot of work to do with this one. I'm just really glad the 3DFA was in charge of fixing the 3-D presentation. Really looking forward to seeing it (of course).

We can hardly wait for the announcement.

Here is my VERY optimistic guess. The Archive has worked on all the other Universal titles and we will get them as a Christmas present.

OH IF ONLY. . .

I'm really hoping for an update on one or more of the Universal titles. I would guess the announcement will be connected to Rarities 2.

The jackpot would be something from WB (I am not even remotely optimistic).

The special news could be:

A release date for Sangaree.

An update on what is happening with subtitles on the Spanish movie.

Details about 3D Rarities 2.

News about a Western (or two) in the pipeline.

More information about Revenge Of The Creature being restored and possibly released.

News about I, the Jury, or maybe even Money From Home.

There are so many possibilities right now, the mind boggles. All I can say is I'm amazed 3D Film Archive has so many irons in the fire, and we can only guess at this stage. Whatever the news is, it'll be good. Thanks in advance.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the work you have done and will be doing on 3D titles.

Think about it guys. 3D Film Archive is the only one restoring 3D titles. Warner Brothers, Sony, MGM, etc. have not restored any 3D titles for years.

A more realistic guess: it's the blu-ray announcement for Revenge of the Creature.
