I have never seen this put forth definitively in print, but I think the reason for the 45/135 orientation is so that audience members simply cannot get a pseudoscopic image, unless they wear the glasses upside down. Somewhere I have a photo of an audience in Kentucky watching Bwana Devil back in 1953, and a few young rebels in the audience have their glasses on wrong way round.

I was at a screening of Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone back in 2002. A poor splice threw the over-and-under 3-D out of sync by one frame and gave us pseudo stereo to boot. The inimitable Ray Zone, somewhere in the darkness, called out to the whole world: "Put your glasses on upside down!" We all did, and even though the flick was still out of sync (and slightly out of alignment), at least the left and right eyes were getting left and right views. :-) My recollection is that the problem was corrected within a few minutes.

Those that've been paying attention, will have already known that these were a possibility, but Twilight Time just mentioned on another forum that The Mad Magician and Gun Fury are likely due for release next year.

With the kickstarter campaign to save "September Storm" in full swing, yesterday the following curious exchange appeared on 3-D Film Archive's facebook. Make of it what you will.

None of the Paramount 1950's 3D titles have been released on Blu-ray 3D. If they were interested in 3D, Hondo would have been easy to do as there already is a DCP for it.

I'm acutely aware of that, they have some of my most sought after titles!

I don't expect any of these titles to be released by Paramount. The ideal scenario is probably if an independent label could gain access to their vault of 3-D treasures. And then have the good sense to work with Bob and Greg to make sure everything's done right!

I'm guessing that some of Paramount's titles just might be in Bob and Greg's "pipeline".

- I don't expect them to confirm or deny anything for some time, but that's what I'm hoping!

I'll lay even money, Interdimensional, that we're right! After all, Bob was involved in a recent retrospective about Jerry Lewis and word was he did a brief 3D "highlights" film from "Money From Home". Now how could he have done that without cooperation from Paramount?

My guess at this point would be The Maze or Redheads.

Last we heard the deal for Money from Home seemed to have fallen through, hence the screening of highlights rather than a full restoration. I'd love to be wrong about that.

Being filmed in 3-strip Technicolor, Money from Home would be very expensive to restore.

If it were to be restored from the camera negatives, yes.

Agreed! But historical popularity should make a premium demand for such a rare unique 3D 1953 comedy that should easily surpass restoration expenses for gratuitous profits.

We had everything in order (and pulled MANY favors including Mr. Lewis) and were prepared to deliver a fully aligned, flawless 3-D master for less than $10K...

Not if one went with one (or more) of the Technicolor Imbibition Dye Transfer prints. Their longevity is legend and Bob F. has mentioned seeing at least one beautiful dual strip print, which is probably why Bob talked about such a moderate cost for the master.

Too bad it sounds like a "no go" now.

Sometimes you move mountains and that still isn't enough. Just makes me all the more grateful for the titles that did make it.

OMG! Less than $10K for a Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin movie in Technicolor and 3D that has never been released on Blu-ray. This would make a fortune if ever released.
