Thanks for the info. It may be 2X the cost to finish in 4K vs 2K, but what do the DI services cost as a percentage of the budget of the film overall?

Hi Penton Man, here are a couple of pics of my buddy. He was named Bruce. These pictures were took at my parents home when i came back from a few days holiday. I was able to get that close because Bruce lost a good chunk of his hearing after suffering from a tumor. He was blissfully unaware of my presence otherwise he would of attacked me with kindness!

The other picture was taken after a long walk and a hearty lunch. I lost him six months later as the tumor returned. He was 14 but looked in good shape which made it harder. He lived for his walks but he could no longer manage even a short distance in the end which broke my heart. A photo however, has pride of place on my desk.

Love Pelé, while I stopped playing the game when I started playing "real" football, Canadian Football that is hehe for my high school, college and Uni teams, I was taught by an Irish born father who played semi-pro, so Pelé was big in the house. Even got to see the bronze medal game between Brasil and the USSR at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, God I then wished pro players were allowed to play with him retiring the following year. Who can forget his reverse-flip kicks (I believe his name is used for it, but I forget, you guys need to remind me ). Rarely in any sport as someone dominated so much that it's a worldwide given that he was the best there was and ever will be.

2x….or more, because I’ve heard of clients being quoted closer to 3x the cost in finish in 4K vs 2K. Be that as it may, as far as the DI services cost of the % of the film’s overall budget, well, that depends on the film but for tentpole-type flicks, let’s just say that Teazle (on the last page) has a right to be upset.

Bicycle, doh!

Not only do very little even try, but from Pelé it was an art form. I guess that's the major difference with one-of-a-kind athletes in any sport. For the legends, that perfect union of mind and body will always amaze me.

I’ve found that the most rewarding relationships are with canines that chose ‘you’, rather than vice versa, i.e. you choosing the dog.

You will know the pain of THAT day. The day when you walk past an empty basket/bed or that food bowl that will no longer be put to use. The ache of a missing companion and dare I say this, 'spiritual' connection that felt good for my soul. I'm certain you will understand what I mean.

Answer – Well, it’s not totally dark. It’s referred to by some as ‘controlled subdued lighting’. I think the current guideline when using a 100 nit reference monitor and abiding by the B.T.1886 standard for gamma is that the ‘room lighting’ reflected off the wall surrounding the monitor be 1-10% of the illumination compared to the 100 IRE white signal exhibited on your mastering monitor. This translates into less than ~ 12 nits for your surround lighting.

However, keep in mind that the common practice among professional facilities when mastering video is rather than being around 10% for ‘room lighting’, they’re all actually doing it closer to the 1% figure.

Before ‘the little fella’, we rescued a German Shepherd mix (she chose us). Like Bruce, she also loved her walks and took care of the little fella as if he was her own. In her later years, she developed severe bilateral hip dysplasia where she couldn’t walk without difficulty (previous owner(s) either never had her hips x-rayed or didn’t bother with forking out the dough for corrective surgery) and when she squatted to urinate, her legs would split apart like a ballerina prompting her to cry out loudly in pain.

We went through a several month spell where I would carry her in my arms for much of her ¼ mile ‘walk’ in the park and then gently place her down while steadying her hips when she needed to urinate or have a bowel movement. Eventually, I *think/hope* she let us know when it was her time to pass from this earth (she had no more appetite for any food), so, we put her to sleep….toughest thing for a dog person to do as far as I’m concerned.

This is a pic of one side wall in one of our TV rooms that I have motorcycle remembrances (framed photos, medals, my finisher pins, etc.), scuba pics from around the world and you’ll note prominently in the lower level around the wall mounted side speaker, 3 poster-sized pics of ‘the lady’ in her heyday. Also on the wall are their collars and leashes.

But, at this point, the 4K vs. 1080p display controversy as to ‘value’ is all becoming rather moot though because as was mentioned 3 months prior to that comparison reporting, the 4K display door has been permanently opened (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...or#post8182385 ) and 4K tvs will eventually become as ubiquitous as 1080p TVs are to 720p TVs, a feeling which was also expressed at the last tech retreat.
