Despite many being encouraged by everyone and his cousin to purchase an A90J this year because rather than an incremental upgrade as with previous years of TV offerings, they were promoted as being a BIG upgrade in picture quality, the new TV hype begins all over again. Gotta luv marketing.

Pre-CES leakage, live CES coverage, unboxing videos of some of the first delivered to this or that country, best settings videos (because we know better than you as well as the exact lighting of your viewing environment), comparison to other 2022 tv videos, when to best buy it videos, justification of your purchase videos, finally what to look forward to in....... 2023. I need an instructional video on how to best maintain an adequate discretionary income to cope with yearly upgrade-itis without feeling guilty about adding to an already "alarming" (quoting my wife) fat collection of accumulated screens ("we're running out of guest rooms for you to dump old TVs in") and how not to lose money at the casinos in Vegas during CES week.

Meanwhile, for a change, a vimeo out of EnergaCAMERIMAGE (~ 54m30s timestamp, Eric on David Fincher, the BVM and the HDR recommendation) - https://vimeo.com/656677031

favorite line being (for it can be used in perpetuity, year after year, forever) is ‘if you are in the market for a new TV, this is definitely a choice to consider’

Correction, for you aviation geeks – I was just informed that the dry lake bed F-18 low flyover in the upcoming HDR graded TG:M was not at Cuddeback, but rather B-20: https://www.cnic.navy.mil/regions/cn.../#:~:text=B-20

Could Sony QD-OLED lead to a replacement of the HX310?

Given as I mentioned months ago that the LMCL panels for the HX-310 have become increasingly difficult to get from panel makers leading to eventual discontinuation, some replacement solution is needed. At this time, I just don’t know if QD-OLEDs would meet the criteria required for a professional grading monitor. Meanwhile:

Public Service Announcement(albeit not as sexy as Tom’s PSA - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...t#post16637301) -

Now that CES is winding down and some are already on their way or back at home, the next big event is the Tech Retreat (HDR program particulars – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...m#post19669328 including the annual CES review [by that wild man occasionally seen playing the electric piano keyboard]

So, I ran these safety protocols - https://www.tvtechnology.com/news/hp...a-tech-retreat thru the brains in the house for expert advice to prospective attendees of the upcoming HPA Tech Retreat who read this thread. Especially since she informs that sotrovimab has now become difficult/impossible to get at some local hospitals in SoCal and likely is the same in other cities/states due to limited supply and Paxlovid has numerous drug-to-drug interactions to contend with.

She said except for the part “Masks required indoors when not eating or drinking” (as Omicron doesn’t take a time-out for when one is eating and drinking and loves it when you are unmasked indoors in close contact with others) and even if people get an antigen test prior to or at the event, there are false negatives, otherwise she opines that the precautions taken are quite thoughtful and most attendees likely can participate without worry or reservation especially given results from the latest MMWR - https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/71/wr/mm7101a4.htm

But she adds the caveat that if you got your second dose of Pfizer or your booster 10+ or more weeks ago (see decay rates here in terms of transmissibility with the latest variant - https://assets.publishing.service.go...ity_update.pdf

AND you live in a household with a moderately or severely immunocompromised person or unvaccinated persons, esp. young children < 5 years of age (for which Pfizer is still working on an efficacious and safe vaccine for them), then you should consider not attending due to the current surge and the chance of transmitting it to those family members in your household.
P.S.
Also recommended is to wear an N95, K95, or KF94 mask choosing whichever fits best to provide a good seal on your face.

'The Power of the Dog' is the movie of 2021, ... #1
The soundtrack I also like very much.

'Dune' is the one for the thrills, the senses, ... sound effects and visual effects.
The 4K HDR BR is coming up Tuesday.

Finally, Dune in full glory HDR 4K Blu-ray with Dolby Atmos.
That's what it's all about, what matters most; the rest is just blowin' in the wings.

Time to shake the foundations of our most prized zone of comfort.
Time to unleash hell to the four corners of our ever expanding galaxy.

2022 is the year of the big bang ... right Penton?

Slate has a really good article trying to convince more laypeople into 4k using Criterion as a trigger point:
