The BR disc at this point is a done and over deal, but any additional insight from people involved is just room for educational opportunities. |

What's the need for a facepalm? It was a legitimate question from closer to the actual release.
He was courteous and took today to answer the few questions on his Facebook page. If it's what he intended, then that's what it is. It just beats sitting around twiddling thumbs and waiting for the next page update ***** session. |

At least we won't have to listen to people claiming that the 1990 DVD was correct.
We had a huge chorus of folks saying that all Sony had to do was look at the 1990 DVD to get it right. We know now that the old DVD was wrong. So that part of the argument is over and done. |

First of all, define "correct". Most would probably say correct = theatrical release. "DVD was too bright and colorful" does not necessarily equal "DVD was significantly different from theatrical release". Do not jump to conclusions. |

I think some people have their minds made up and it makes no difference what the DP will say. I knew some folks would find some way to rationalize and discount his comments about the DVD. We know exactly what's going to happen here. Even if the DP says, "It's perfect, I love it", people will say, "Just because he loves it, doesn't mean it's right. Don't jump to conclusions". That's what makes this all so much fun. It doesn't matter if Savini likes the new look. It doesn't matter if the DP dislikes the old DVD. People who are complaining about the Blu-ray will continue to complain about the Blu-ray regardless of what the director and the director of photography say. When Savini said he liked it, people went looking for the DP. If the DP likes it, people will go looking for the studio janitor. People who don't like the Blu-ray are going to keep searching until somebody tells them it's wrong. |

Brings all new meaning to "phoning it in". I'd say they could've at least skype'd or emailed screens back and forth, but their monitors probably aren't properly calibrated anyway, so maybe they did! ![]() |

Hee hee. This release made for an exciting and funny thread at times but the Blu-ray is a revisionist version of the film. Just like what Lucas did to the original trilogy of Star Wars films. Even though the Director and DP do sign off on it, it's not the film they released in 1990. But I guess I'm beating a dead horse. BTW, does anyone prefer this version or do most prefer the original color timing?
edit: So the DP hasn't even seen the new transfer?! Wow. Just Wow. Me thinks that in 3 years time this will surface again with a less dark transfer. I wish I could bet money on it... Last edited by Yojimbo68; 11-08-2012 at 11:52 PM. |
