That seems pretty accurate. Remember reading somewhere that Sony was considering selling the movie studio given their financial troubles... can't recall if that was just a rumor though. I wouldn't be opposed to it at this point. Maybe we'd get more blu-ray catalog releases if they had a different owner.

I'm a pu**y. The difference this time around is that this remake is actually a really bad ass movie. I was about 15 when this came out and comparing the remake to the original I honestly thought then (as I do now) that this remake is actually superior to the original. Savini and Romero were at the top of their game with this. And this movie sowed the seeds of my fear of zombies. I like the original but it doesn't scare me at all.
All that, and my boy Tony Todd is in this. The Candyman, Worfs brother, the crazy soldier in The Rock. Tony "Motherfreakin" Todd.

Dang. I'm still on the fence. Maybe I should get it. I don't know. Dang.
The shipping becomes less as you order more titles, because they get bundled together. I think you should just bite the bullet, it sounds like you really like the movie, and you will be kicking yourself if it sells out quickly, I'm still kicking myself over Fright Night

If NOTLD '90 ends up selling out it'll be because of opportunists looking to make some money from a presumed repeat of a Fright Night scenario. I've seen plenty of pans for this film on several message boards, with comments ranging from "it's a sacrilege" to the usual "they never should've remade Romero's masterpiece", so it's not a film that will sell out based on popularity.

It has more of a cult like mentality in its following. While I think it's a good movie (I prefer the original), Twilight Time is smart by limiting it to 3,000 to appeal to people like me. I'm on the fence and may end up buying it just for the possibility of a sellout or buyer's after market. Realistically, it belongs in a 9.99 bin at Best Buy, but what can you do?

SONY won't let anyone who acquires their titles to produce special features. Cliff has already commented on this in the Scream Factory thread, saying something like they're not interested in grabbing Sony titles if they're not allowed to include extras. Good for Shout, I say.

Does Twilight Time only do Sony movies? If so then I would love them to release London (2006) which Sony Pictures Classics distributed. Amazing movie with Chris Evans, Jessica Biel, and Jason Statham.

Also I really really want to buy Night of the Living Dead (90) on Blu. I love zombie movies and I saw the remake first before the original. The original just was too dated for me. While its not the best zombie film out there, its still quite enjoyable.

Many are from Sony, but some are also from Fox.

Depends what you mean by selling out quickly. Fright Night, from the time of pre-orders, was available for, I don't know, six or more weeks?

Then how come it says it was released Dec 11 and on Screen Archives it says it was sold out Dec 18th? Was it just the 100 signed copies that were sold out on the 18th?

Pre Order date and official release date (the day they actually ship it to you) were different. Here are the exact dates:

This is very true. Fright Night has a very robust and "united" cult following in the sense that it's beloved by it fans and there isn't really any group "opposed" to it. NotlD is very different, the original Romero NotlD has such a rabid following that many in that camp view the Savini remake as some sort of tragic insult to the legacy of the original. Most NotlD fans are fans of the original Romero version and are turned off by the Savini release. Silly, but true. Also, the film was pretty much negatively critically received upon its release (Fright Night was received very warmly by critics,) so it tends to be remembered as a mediocre film whereas Fright Night is not.

Whitesheik I said if it sells out quickly, I don't know if it will or not, there have been many predictions of quick sell outs with other titles that never happened. I think six weeks is quick.

Fright Night being a cult classic is somewhat revisionist history. Its reputation seems to have been bolstered a bit by the remake and it selling out so fast from Twilight Time, but it has always been bargain bin fodder. It's not even that beloved of a movie in horror circles except to a small generation that grew up with it on cable.

What? Not true at all. It's had a very healthly cult following in horror circles for many years, and mercandise for it (original posters, etc.) commanded a healthly price.

It was nowhere in the same league as the heavyweight horror franchises of the 80s, like Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street. Twilight Time got very lucky in picking a popular movie among the right BD-buying demographic.

Does anybody know how long it takes for Screen Archives to charge your credit card at the time of pre order? Also is shipping fast when you select UPS for $5.00 dollars.
