Blue is the Warmest Color is also NC-17.

I'd argue that they haven't released Showgirls because they have better taste. But given some of the things they have released, I'm not sure that that argument would hold water.

I'm not sure 'highest grossing' is a criteria they worry much about, and I'm sure the fact something was given an NC-17 is of no interest to them at all. Also Box Office Mojo has Last Tango in Paris as the #1 domestic and Lust, Caution the #1 worldwide.

There's a 4K of Showgirls overseas, would rather a release of that than a Criterion.

Since I have until midnight to sign up. One question about the Channel is it easy to cancel? I should try it since I love films and all but I don't have a job and still looking. getting a month free would help out more than the 2 weeks to try it out.

You’ll want to contact who you purchased the set from about a replacement. If there’s an issue then you’d contact criterion to see if they can help. I say to do it this way because in my experience they will direct you to do the same before they will consider replacement parts.

So I signed up and first movie partly was After the Rehearsal by Bergman which I couldn't finish since its rather boring. the only other Bergman film I saw and have is Through a Glass Darkly and that was better. At least I try before I splurge on the sets or something now.

Anyone get an error when they have an external display connected to their laptop? I have and AOC connected to my MB air and I have to unplug it.

I watched part 1 of Until the End of the World last night and am going to watch part 2 tonight. All I can say is, the nearly 5 hour version is the best version as Wim Wenders stated. The key is watching multiple nights as taking it all in at once probably is too much work. I highly enjoyed part 1 and cannot believe how many amazing shooting locations this production visited, including 9 countries overall. Of course the best thing about this film is the soundtrack and I consider it one of the top 100 soundtracks of all time (and have included it on my top 100 list). This film is high art. It may very well be the king of all road movies.

Who else has seen the entire 287 minute cut?

Well tomorrow is the day of the month. I'd be pretty happy if we got upgrades for either the Human Condition Trilogy, Youth of the Beast, or Fires on the Plain.

Saw it on the big-screen on a rare one-day showing at a historic local theater some time prior to the Criterion release! Glorious.
I was waiting forever for this thing!! I had a friend who worked at Criterion for a while when this was in the loooong-development toward release -- they told me that the music rights were the main thing that was holding it up so long.

Thought I could use my desktop but no it only works with a streaming tv or apple tv or a laptop with a built in display. This is highly annoying as I want to use the larger screen of an External Monitor. I can't keep unplugging the cable to watch something and then plug it back in. I was expecting something like youtube. I use the month and see what happens though. I have to plan on when not to use my external monitor.

Not me not yet. I have and have seen the 158m original theatrical cut (on laserdisc) and the 179m extended cut (on Japanese laserdisc). I have not seen the 287m extendeder cut yet. I need to rectify that.

I watch the Channel on an external display. Not sure if there are some restrictions to what works but I've got a MacBook Pro, logged in to the Criterion site through Safari, outputting to a 4k Dell monitor over USB-C.

As always, I am hoping for

Any Pasolini (Accatone, Mamma Roma upgrade, Gospel, Oedipus Rex)
Any Scorsese (After Hours, Bringing Out the Dead, Alice)
I'd love some early Oshima (Cruel Story of Youth, Night and Fog in Japan, Sun's Burial)
I'd also like an Oshima "Empire of Passion" upgrade.
"Burn!" (AKA 'Queimada!')
The Painted Bird
The Devils (Ain't gonna happen; but I'd still love it)
The Piano
Drugstore Cowboy
Bad Lieutenant or The Funeral (Ferrara)
The Mirror (Tarkovsky)
Dersu Uzala (Kurosawa)
Da 5 Bloods, She's Gotta Have It (Spike Lee)
California Split (Altman)

Any of these would make me very happy.

Wow that is truly amazing! So let me ask, did you have to use the restroom once or twice during the nearly 5 hour showing? I just hope nobody was drinking beer before going to the theater (that would mean a dozen trips to the restroom!)... especially if you multiply your bladder's diameter divided by alcohol percentage and taken the square root of how much liquid volume you consumed. Or something like that. I sucked at math in high school. HA ha.
