I'm not saying the "Ignore" post was directed towards me or any individual poster, but all I know is if someone has a small problem with me, they can always PM me, instead of posting "I'm loving the 'ignore' feature." (again mmgirl, not saying your talking to me), but only by posting that seems that you want attention or a high five by ignoring someone. So again, if anyone has a problem with something I said, if you can get through all of the transfers crying today to find it, just PM me. Keep the forum cleaner, and only would have to focus on the other stuff (you know, plastic cases, transfers, Wes Anderson, etc.). Thanks.
Oh, and keldons post of directors that will help show me the way to substance can still be posted on here or PM me, your choice. Oh, and I'm changing my avatar back to the Lou Reed photo. Seems like thats the photo that I use with my "a-hole" image, that looks to be coming back. Been a good run Anna. Last edited by SpiderBaby; 12-05-2010 at 05:44 AM. |

This is a really nitpicky topic but I am hoping someone could help me out since there aren't any unboxing videos for The Third Man.
I recently picked up a copy from a garage sale (unfortunately they knew how much it was worth) and two things struck me that I needed answered: 1) I've seen that the DVD version is a fold-out package that slides out from the left side (a la Night of the Hunter) but do all the BD's of The Third Man that aren't in the plastic case slide out from the top or bottom? I don't think anyone bootlegs Criterions, but if I'm misinformed, someone please fill me in. 2) This would be the more likely of the things I'm worried about. I recently got Man Who Fell To Earth new at a Barnes and Noble and it was a Digipak. That one had the blue sticker on it with no top sticker label and the heat sealed plastic was soft. By comparison, this copy of The Third Man has no blue sticker (which I know does not come with every new copy of a Criterion) to nearly ensure its supposed brand new condition and its heat-sealed plastic has a hard and 'crispy' texture. The sealing point is also on its side as opposed to the back as it usually is. I know that this was one of the earlier releases so maybe they wrapped things differently than they did by the time they got to the Man Who Fell to Earth. Any and all help is appreciated because I really don't want to get duped. EDIT: And if some photos of the BD will help, please let me know. |

The original older Criterion Blus came in that awful slides out from TOP/BOTTOM packaging and you can order a PLASTIC replacement case from Criterion (check out the CRITERION main first page thread) https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mo...iscussion.html
Also the Blu-Ray sticker is only on the outer plastic wrap of their releases NOT on the package artwork. Your copy of MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH it was the TOP/BOTTOM packaging right? http://www.criterionforum.org/DVD-pa...collection/500 Here are PICS of The Third MAN http://www.criterionforum.org/DVD-pa...collection/499 Last edited by PowellPressburger; 12-05-2010 at 05:56 AM. |

hmmmmmmm. No, it's sometimes about CCfixx. We switch.
But since the comment was made after mine, I decided to reply to PM me SO THIS FORUM WOULDN'T BE ABOUT ME. You can always post more too so it doesn't always have to be about me or seem to you. ![]() |

I have the older version of The Third Man blu-ray from Criterion, and the shrink-wrap definitely has the blue sticker on it.
Having said that, I think it's definitely possible that at least a few of their blu-rays might slip out of the factory without the blue sticker. Whoever does the actual manufacturing/packaging may not have the same high standards Criterion usually does for designing/pressing the actual discs. As for any blu-rays that may not have the original shrink-wrapping (assuming that's the case), they may not necessarily be bootlegs. I would assume the major chains (amazon, B&N, BB, etc.) will usually re-shrinkwrap anything that gets returned for reasons other than the discs being defective, but I don't know that for a fact. |
