No. You can preorder anything that comes out before the sale ends for 50% off, but that's it.

I was surprisd to see western actor Terence Hill (billed as Mario Girotti) in The Leopard. I think that Criterion should release They Call Me Trinity and Trinity Is Still My Name, but that will NEVER happen. Sadly, Terence Hill has seemed to slip away from acting, the last film I saw him in was Lucky Luke (a film from the early 90's)

M is seriously one of my all time favorite films, and, in my book, one of the greatest films ever made. Really, only David Fincher's Zodiac and Se7en really come close to matching the intensity of that film in terms of the serial killer genre. Gomorrah is a film that get's better with repeat viewings. At first, it was really hard for me to settle on how I felt about it. It's too realistic and grounded in truth to be a great piece of storytelling, but it's also too rooted in fictional narrative format to be a documentary or reenactment. It straddles the two genres so well that it's just a very unique film. But it does come off as a bit emotionally cold. However, the film is an undeniably huge achievement. They take a huge social issue (organized crime) and make it intimate by focusing on several people whose lives are changed forever by the Camorrah. I bought Mystery Train on several recommendations but haven't watched it yet.

The 400 Blows is pretty hard not to like, it's one of my favorite titles in the collection.

I watched the copy of The Leopard that I bought this week.

It was nice to finally see the Italian version...what a great print. You could see the dust on the faces of the Prince's family, from walking in the dusty streets.

The only thing I had to get used to, was an Italian actors voice being dubbed in for Burt Lancaster. Any close up scenes with Lancaster and other Italian actors had both voices being dubbed.

I liked it a lot, but I felt like it was built up too much for me by fellow collectors and film classes/professors. Still a great movie, but my expectations were a little too high.

What is the oldest film you've ever seen, that you saw when it was first released in theaters/cinemas. The film obviously can't be older than you and in all fairness...a film that you remember for the most part.

I guess for me it would be "You Only Live Twice"...Sean Connery as James Bond (June of 1967). I was bearly nine years old and seeing it with my parents at the drive-in theater.

The next after that...and not only one that I remember explicitly...but one that I went to see on my own with my brother. "2001: A Space Odyssey" (April 1968). This time in a movie theater in Nanuet, NY that (at the time) had a state of the art "multi-channel" sound system with huge woofers.

Close behind that is "Yellow Submarine" (November 1968) that I also saw in a movie theater as a Saturday afternoon matinee.
Well the earliest film I can actually remember seeing was Back to the Future 2 which came out in 1989. I was 8 at the time. Reason I remember it was more because of a family tragedy than anything else. My grandmother took me to the movie actually had a stroke and lost her eyesight in her left eye permenantly DURING the early part of the movie. I never did get the see most of the film until video years later. Believe it or not she liked the first Back to the Future film but flatout refused to ever watch Part 2 afterwards because she thought it was cursed and didn't want to lose her other eye.

Let's hope so. If there is, I will definitely hold off on the September and October releases until then, except maybe Seven Samurai, my all time favorite film

Hehe....Well... Non Disney...

All memories are around the late '70s.

For theater with the family, I remember going to see "Saturday Night Fever" with my parents as they were all into the disco craze and would have these disco parties at the house back then (now that I think about it, my parents had more fun in their 20's and 30's than me and my wife...with all the house parties...hehe).

I do remember going with a family member to see "Jaws, "Grease", "Star Wars" and also "Superman". But the largest number of family I remember going out to the movies including my grandparents (which was the only time) was watching "Poltergeist".

My dad and mom used to take me and my brother to the drive-in when we were young. Granted, I don't know what they were doing in the front seat (nor do I want to think about it) but I remember we would sleep and when I woke up, seeing nude women on the screen - the movie was "Stripes" and I think we actually went to the drive-in to see "Porky's"....maybe even "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"...hehe... I don't remember too much of these drive-in days..as my parents made sure we were dead tired and fell asleep.

But probably my most favorite experience at the theater when I was young was watching "Rocky IV" and seeing the crowd all up in their feet and really getting into that final boxing match and screaming and rooting for Rocky. That was an unreal moment.

Well, I don't think you are the only one. I've read of people who purchased with coupons on Tuesday and then were charged the price without coupons and other situations. Anyway, I hope you get everything squared away but truthfully, you get more mileage from calling to get your order squared away:

This is probably a stupid question but do all of 1998 Criterion versions of Salò released have the white ring on them? Or are those more rare?

First theater experience was for a revival showing of Gone With The Wind, back when people still dressed up to go to the theater.

First one without my parents, Batman, but I'm sure that must've been 67 or 68, so not a first run.

First one I know I saw in the initial run was a triple feature at the drive-in, Paint Your Wagon, True Grit, & The Wild Bunch.

Yup but they're region locked, region B. I unfortunately don't have a region free player.

The Bicycle Thieves was released? Where? Only release I know about was the UK disc and, AFAIK, that hasn't happened.

Ooooo, Trouble in Paradise is one of my hands down, absolute favorite movies ever. Great choice!

Am I the only one who has already received all my B&N order? I ordered tuesday night with free shipping and they arrived on friday. I was impressed until I read everyone's troubles in this thread.
