Despite these 3 things, both Samsung and Amazon continue to spread (via people like John Archer) this idea that they are streaming HDR10+, and no-one in the world can actually prove it. Unless and until they come to their senses and fix the 3 things above, this ludicrous state of affairs will continue. Given their track record it would be a brave person who just takes it all at face value and yes "I know I am seeing HDR10+". Quote:
Still not one single downloadable demo in the whole world. How many dolby vision demos were freely available, two years after "launch"? I'm sure it was more than zero! My LG TV has two dolby vision demos actually built into the TV! |

Frostbite (game engine) & HDR
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frostbite_(game_engine) https://twitter.com/kechogarcia/stat...64603633713152 ![]() Frostbite can and will target any HDR standard that makes sense. ![]() Dolby build a custom display mapping for each panel to get the best from it, and achieve standardization of look across displays. ![]() Game can look quite different on each HDR10 TV (i.e. a very loose interpretation of the original creative intent), due to lack of display mapping standardization across manufacturers. ![]() To address this HDR10 issue, display mapping is done at the game level (i.e. game console or PC). |

![]() I think Waboman (in training) would drink to that… On a more serious note, Top Gun certainly set a high bar for entertainment and it will be tough for Top Gun: Maverick to match it, but people are trying really hard to. |

Not really. I spoon fed it to you on this thread several weeks ago as to what to choose for a Dolby Vision render….

You can hand this off over there too.
By a spokesperson from Cinelab London (http://www.cinelab.co.uk/) “We are really lucky to be working on some projects currently that when released in 4K and HDR will be an amazing testament to the quality and durability of originating on film decades ago. They will also never have been seen by anyone in this quality as the film was only ever transferred and edited on 1” composite video in the 80’s.” |
