Not peanuts by any means, but every lower-tier/lower-priced 4K set I've encountered doesn't begin to compare. Its current equivalent, the X950H, will likely go on sale for around the same sometime next year, if it hasn't already. It's the TV I currently recommend to most people not concerned with OLED. |

The 65" Set was $5,500 initially (actually I think it started out even higher ![]() I'm not rich, I paid it off over a long stretch on credit card. I just take my home theater hobby very seriously, as I have been into cinema at home since the days of decent standard def projectors being sold for $10K for starters,(now you can get an HD projector that kills any of those for $300) and making long treks to obtain laserdiscs in physical stores because they weren't sold anywhere near where I lived! I did my research before buying this TV, and I have seen my set compared to many other "high end sets" and I still think it is the best overall. I'm still impressed with it. I'm sorry if I offended you! |

![]() Rtings "The Hisense H9G is a bit better overall than the Sony X950H. The Hisense has a much better contrast ratio, it has a much quicker response time, and a lower input lag. However, the Sony has much better out-of-the-box color accuracy, it gets brighter in HDR, and it handles reflections better." https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/comp...h9g/1777/12847 "Although you’ll get a higher contrast ratio with the Samsung Q90R, the H9G is one-third of the price and still manages an impressive six-figure contrast ratio and excellent color accuracy out of the box. All this earns the Hisense 65H9G our Editors’ Choice for budget-friendly TVs." https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/hisens...quantum-series |

https://www.soundandvision.com/conte...bility-ratings So you pay $1K for a 65" model, and in 5 years when its out of warranty, and goes bad you have to shell out another thousand dollars for a new one. Where is the savings? I have had experience with budget TV sets in the past 15 years, and after seeing two of them go bad early on from friends, and family. I learned a lesson. You get what you pay for when it comes to TV sets! |

Ugh, we go through this every once in a while. Rtings is useful resource but completely misleading and blissfully ignorant how they rank products. They literally use the same static test pattern to come up with a rating, and call the higher number "better".
Put them side by side with ACTUAL content, and nobody will pick the Hisense or claim it has better contrast ratio etc. I can guarantee you Sony's backlight algorithm is more sophisticated and accurate with content in motion. Also, I like FOMOs videos but he knows his audience and pushes the budget options...funny thing though he has an A9G as his personal TV. |

Sony doesn't make LEDs like the Z9D anymore, so their quality has gone down and those cheaper brands have caught up to them. |

So why in blazes are you in a thread devoted to a TV that you: -Have (had) no interest in owning because it was out of your reach financially -and claim that big brand TV manufacturers are just as unreliable as lesser manufacturers...yet surveys, and data prove otherwise? https://www.consumerreports.org/tvs/...bility-issues/ I'll wait patiently for your answer. Likely you don't have one, so just make something up, or better yet don't post at all. |

As to Consumer Reports: "Consumer Reports is was a generation’s most credible source for authentic product reviews. Sadly, the non-profit organization founded in 1936 has opted to monetize their digital presence with affiliate commissions. Thus, their entire trusted platform is now compromised. Once an organization accepts affiliate payments their innately biased." https://www.honestmattressreviews.co...ity-1936-2017/ Last edited by Auditor55; 12-25-2020 at 11:12 PM. |

The TV this thread is devoted to, and the same TV you chewed me out for saying $2,000 was a bargain for it (it was)!

I did own a Z9D (great picture quality) but I had to return it because it was defective (see my point). I couldn't find another one and Sony did not want to fix it, they offered me a Z9F, I wasn't enthusiastic about it . I asked for an A8F OLED, they wouldn't do it.

Also how much did you pay for your set as it seemed like you were offended I mentioned $2K being a good deal? "2K is bargain basement pricing! It's must be great to say that." Well, some people simply can't afford 2-4 thousand dollar TVs. Some of you have so much disposable income you can upgrade those 2k-4k TVs every 1-2 years. Not everyone can do that. It is just a weird angle being that you owned the TV set you were talking about the price in a negative way. Last edited by Filmfan73; 12-26-2020 at 04:30 PM. |

What you describe isn't how Sony operates under warranty. Very far from it! |
