IF UB9000 has VUDU DV Atmos app that would save me from having to buy another box/player of some kind

On every report I give to the engineers and product management I stress the importance of Dolby Vision HDR for profile 4 and 5 which includes the low latency protocol. On my last report they immediately responded telling me not to remind them about low latency compatibility again.

At first I thought they just did not like my persistence, but in retrospect I now think they just know that profile 4 and 5 must be included in the decoding so the players will be compatible with every DV TV on the market.

Thank you Panasonic for listening to the market needs and being responsive.

A9F is just a "reliable" rumor at this moment. To further the rumor it's said to include Sony's upcoming Ultimate Extreme processor and maybe an advancement in the panel drive scheme.

Need for UB9000 to have VUDU App able to do both Dolby Vision with Atmos. This is critical for VUDU have currently 220 Dolby Vision 4K movies.

Not only that. Sony x700 have VUDU App with Atmos.

Asian Panny can't be out done by Asian Sony's important and useful App's Engineering Dept.

Not sure what's happening, but we just received a few call and emails saying the UB9000 is not confirmed to be available in the USA.

Just to be 100% clear, and as I said before, we are getting the UB9000 in the USA, but it will be later than the EU and Asia's launch. Likely October and hopefully mid-late September.

Certainly don't want to belabor this, but I also do not want anyone to think that Panasonic's BD players over-sharpen when processing the Chroma signal. I see the opposite of what you are saying and I believe it's valuable for members and visitors to know if this is a problem or as I see it a benefit of Panasonic's highly acclaimed HCX processing.

It would be much more helpful if you could point us to a few scenes on Blu-ray movies that demonstrate the issue you are seeing. So if you know any BD titles (with time codes please) that can show us the anomalies that the UB900 is introducing so we can see it for ourselves and I'll quickly pass this along to Panasonic's chief engineer on the new BD players.

But they do oversharpen when processing the chroma. I appreciate that you're cheerleading for them but I was right there at the start with the 900 in April 2016 e.g. I first spotted the Edge Correction workaround for upscaled Luma which sites like HDTVtest then integrated into their subsequent review on the site.

Check out a set of colour bars compared to a Sony or an OPPO, you'll see significant ringing in both axes on the Panny whereas on the latter players the ringing is minimal on the vertical edges and present on horizontal edges. Is it some massively apparent problem that I expect people to pick up? No, this is me we're talking about. It's simply what Panny's processing does and when you look at a chroma upsampling pattern you realise why they do it, and yet the chroma processing on their older BD players with Uniphier SoC operates in much the same way except that the default chroma processing mode (separate from the subsampling setting) wasn't as oversharpened as it is on the UHD players out of the box. Turning the chroma sharpness down to -3 or -4 on the UHD players corrects the chroma ringing but then it reduces chroma resolution at the same time, whereas other players have a better OOTB balance between preserving chroma resolution and not overcooking it IMO.

Robert, if the 480i output of the newer players is still fubar then passing on whatever information to them would seem to be somewhat useless. They fixed the lip sync drift that they had with the UB900 in 2016 after it was brought to their attention, true enough, but when it comes to video processing it's their way or the high way, it works seemingly as intended and they're not going to change it because of some crank on a forum (and I mean me, not you). I just calls as I sees 'em, literally in this case.

Everything else I have always asked Panasonic to do to enhance and fix issues have been taken seriously and addressed.

Hollywood have their own experts on video processors. Panasonic, Sony, Oppo have their own click of experts too and have their own friends in Hollywood with Dolby, Lucas, THX, Disney, and the rest of the gang.

The films we viewed @ home we view them with love and passion, no matter the brands of audio/video equipment we use. Panasonic make good products, too bad their OLED TVs are available in Canada from the east coast to the west coast, in the UK, and not in the United States of America.

But in the US we have Sony OLED and LED, LG OLED, ...and all the usual suspects.
There will be more 4K players in the future from Panasonic and Sony.
We are in tune with the audio/video experts and their reviews, like Kris and Manni for example.
And with you too Robert with your team of TV video experts and shooting comparisons.

The day will come with Dolby Vision for 4K front projectors.
The day will come with 8K contentment.
The day will come when 3D is back again...Avatar 2, and @ home.

For example, the red and blue diagonal lines on the Spears & Munsil test disc’s Color Space checker appeared less jagged on Panasonic’s UB900 when compared to the OPPO UDP-203. On the other hand, Panasonic’s extra chroma processing resulted in the side-effect of false-colored ringing in flatter areas like color bars (or for a real-world example, logos), whereas OPPO’s simpler chroma scaling did not.
