Any clue how to customise the option to better suit an oled?
I tested deadpool with the basic settings and got much more details. Blade runner 2049 saw no change with that setting at all. I do feel an option for 750-800 nits would be better for oled displays.
This …

Its so course that it feels like they have (in many cases) compromised the performance aspect they set out to maximize???

BR2049 has an extremely small highlight range (la Deakins, he no like HDR) so it's no wonder it looks the same. And yes, no setting is a magic one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to mapping static HDR.

We need someone to do a PQ Side-by-Side with the UB820 and UB9000.

The UB9000 is not extremely more costly than the UB820.
Improvements in PQ over the UB820 would be attractive.

You and me both. Comparing HDR Tone Mapping in player vs in display almost impossible to do "live" thanks to the stopping disc, changing settings, reloading disc etc - so really needs two players and two identical displays side by side.

Hey Robert, don't you have some sort of yearly event that happens a 40 minute train ride from my office that would be the ideal location for this kind of thing?

But you can switch off/on the optimizer during a movie when bringing up its menu. Wouldn't that be a quick way of comparing it or isn't that what you meant?

I'll need to investigate whether or not that's truly equivalent to turning it off in the Setup menu.

Yes let's do it! Great item to add to our annual TV Shootout agenda.

Metro North from Grand Central Station NYC to the Scarsdale train station takes 40 minutes if you catch an off peak local train, otherwise it's a 30 minute train ride on Metro North.

I thought the UB9000 was a higher end unit catered to the audiophile market. I don't see how there would be better PQ over the UB820 unless there's some new info I'm unaware of.

Please provide URL links showing UB9000 has same PQ as UB820.

I have both the LG G6 and LG E6 OLEDs.
Many articles saids the E6 was award winning. Having won shootouts. Gotten all kinds awards.
Vincient Teoh of HDTVTEST showed the G6 had much better PQ. Particularly with specular hightlights. At my home the G6 blows the E6 away.

Because of components, isolations designs my hunch is UB9000 will give better PQ. Thats why I want to see a side by side PQ comparison.

Where does anyone make that statement?

DJR662 said "considering price and performance..... "at the moment" 820 is the best available (the UB9000 isn't available to the public yet.)

Tru-way stated he has doubts about the 9000 being better and inessence asked for info showing it was better, which is what you are asking too.

So, I don't see how any one was saying 820 is definitely better...we are all just like you waiting for a comparisons.

Why are you so demanding as the 9000 is not even shipping?

Look Robert said he get a UB9000 engineering production sample in the thread he created in mid to late July. See here.

Posting a couple of youtube's videos doesn't equate to any expert opinion of vision quality which btw as others have pointed out is not why you buy a 9000 over a 820.

Give Robert a chance to test it, and don't expect engineering samples to be like the final product, that's why they are called engineering samples.

Higher grade components don't affect digital image quality in that way. If we were still dealing with analog component outputs, we could have this discussion (although even then it'd be subtle).

There's no reason I can think of why the UB9000 would be better in terms of image quality. It's not impossible, but it is unlikely.
